I'm seeing the same thing. 10.04 Server edition 32/64 bit. USB prepared via unetbootin.
I've not tried any of the other 10.04 installs as yet. Any ideas?
As long as your Windows disk is mounted on boot then it's simple as this:
ln -s /home/username/Documents /media/windows/Documents\ and\ Settings/username/My\ Documents/
The above is just an...
You need to use the password you setup when you installed mysql.
man mysqladmin
;)
I has one too :P
EDIT:
Disregard.
I need new glasses ;)
Might be a bit of overkill but you could always run a local only IRC server and have clients use irssi to connect?
If the fsck doesn't sort out the issue, I'd try running one of the programs that don't seem to load in terminal to see what's causing the issue.
1. Please post your /etc/hosts file
2. If you're trying to edit the sendmail.cf then you need to specify an editor:
sudo nano /etc/mail/sendmail.cf
https://help.ubuntu.com/8.04/serverguide/C/index.html ;)
The only real downside is this:
1. No server kernel
2. Additional overhead of running desktop software
:)
+1
This is a known bug in Intrepid. Jaunty fixed the issue for me though.
https://help.ubuntu.com/8.04/serverguide/C/dovecot-server.html
I don't see any logic in paying for software when something else can do the job fine, if not better for free.
If we were talking AD / GP then maybe but for a simple file, web and email server I...
1) Apache / MySQL / PHP
2) SAMBA / NFS
3) Postfix / Dovecot etc
Ubuntu Server will handle all that and more ;)
See the above link in my previous post.
Ignore the stupid naming convention. AMD64 works on ALL 64Bit AMD and INTEL processors. ;)
What do you need the server to do?
https://help.ubuntu.com/8.04/serverguide/C/index.html
sudo apt-get install mdadm
sudo mdadm --assemble --scan
Best of luck ;)
Sounds like port 21 is forwarded from your router to the correct internal machine but the non-standard port you're trying to set isnt.
Ensure that the custom port you want to use is forwarded from...
You can, in theory, use any port you like as long as it's not in use by another service.
The only issue with changing port on a webserver is that by default browsers try port 80.
For example:
...
Essentially you'll need a port forward from your router to your webserver. Any incoming requests to your external IP address (ISP assigned) will be redirected to the internal machine hosting sites...
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/CronHowto
First you'll have to assign an IP address to each machine in order for them to talk to each other, secondly you'll need to set up some form of file sharing. Personally I'd suggest nfs or sshfs.
...
sudo dhclient eth0
Well your menu.lst file looks ok so it's likely some form of hardware incompatibility.
We'll need hardware specs in order to go any further. Model name / number / parts etc
You can gather this...
