Has anyone found a solution to this issue yet?
I think I found the problem. It's a bug with Intel's SNA acceleration.
If anyone else is having this or a similar issue, you might be able to solve it by changing/creating your xorg.conf file...
I'm still troubleshooting this issue. My Xorg.0.log indicates that the GPU is hanging.
Anyone know a fix for this?
Has anyone been able to fix this yet? I keep accidentally closing the window behind the window I'm viewing.
My best workaround is to use the SUPER+M key combination, which I think unmaximumizes...
I've researched a bit more and I think the command is referenced as "lightdm" because it's the first of many processes started by the X Server.
I'm not sure how to debug this. Is there a log that...
Htop found the culprit:
/usr/bin/X :0 -core -auth /var/run/lightdm/root/:0 -nmolisten tcp vt7 -novtswitch
My understanding is that lightdm is the system graphics server, which should always be...

Maybe the solution is more complicated than it appears.

Great! I thought -gksu was just an argument for opening Nautilus from a terminal, but now I see that it does exactly what I'm looking for.
Thanks!
Creating a shortcut eliminates one step (opening a terminal), but you still need to to re-navigate to the directory you want to modify.
From time to time, I need to modify files in a directory that requires root permissions. The way I do it is to open nautilus from a terminal using the sudo command, then navigate to the folder that I...

Also, in 12-hour format, the digital clock adds a zero before the hours of 1-9. For...

How do I determine the addresses of the servers I'm...
Thanks for the responses. If anyone has success getting things to work again, please post your workaround.
Well, there are ways to rule things out, each with various levels of difficulty. Some simple things to check:
Can you play other media from your hard drive?
Yes.
Can you play streaming...

Anyone? Only six days left.
I'm gonna bump this because I'm setting up this computer as a media center for a Christmas gift. That means I have about a week or so to get things up and running. And I'd really like to be able to...
I originally posted this on PPC part of the forum, but wasn't able to get an answer. Hope someone here can help.
