:( Did you file a bug report?
Did anyone file a bug on this yet? Couldn't find a report when I looked just now
One clue here. I'm using EFI on my retina macbook, and notice some EFI related errors in recovery mode. Is anyone else using EFI?
Huh, interesting. I'll have to look into it a bit more then.
How does booting without grub work, where do you set kernel options and such? Never heard of booting rEFInd straight to Ubuntu, without...
It hangs shortly after booting the kernel from grub, with a purple screen. Seems a number of people are effected by it. There's a thread about it here:...
I'm not using btrfs, just standard Ubuntu 13.04 install
Wow, thanks for all the research!! The latest kernel (3.8.0-10) in raring just broken my install, so I'm waiting for that to be fixed :/
I've tried most of those already, and the text-scaling does...
Same problem here, with a MBP Retina. 3.8.0-10 won't boot at all, 3.8.0-9 still boots although the graphics driver is now messed up :/ (nvidia proprietary won't load)
I mean that I can set it via cli, but the value is still ignored :/ (the display doesn't change, just the value reported by xdpyinfo).
About the Xft.dpi, ya that doesn't seem like it would effect...
I found one possible clue, although no solution yet. I tried everything you suggested, and it seems that the dpi is getting set correctly. At least as reported by xdpyinfo. However, Xft.dpi is stuck...
Nope, that didn't work either :/ May have to try KDE, if my googling doesn't turn up something else
I'm using Unity with the 13.04 daily. Tried a couple other combinations of Xorg options, but to no avail. Here's the entire xorg.conf I'm using:
# nvidia-xconfig: X configuration file generated by...
Strange, I wonder if this is broken in 13.04. I tried it with just DPI, just DisplaySize, and both, and none of them worked. The odd thing is, if I check my Xorg log I see this line, so it certainly...
Just tried that and it didn't seem to work for me. Are you using the proprietary driver or the nouveau driver?
I've been testing out the 13.04 daily releases, and I think I've finally got the steps down to install it smoothly with the nvidia driver working right. I wrote it up in a new blog post, if anyone is...
What driver were you using? I've gotten external monitors to work with the proprietary nvidia driver, but haven't gotten it to work with any of the open source ones
So, strange issue that I've run into.
I have an EFI install, with the proprietary nvidia drivers, and it seems that if I leave my retina powered off for more than 24hrs, the nvidia drivers become...
Where you able to use the external monitor connectors? I never did manage to get those working right.
I haven't tried doing it myself, but this guide looks like it has directions for using 'cvt' to add new modelines:...
I'm pretty sure that's how it's going to be, if you run it at native resolution. Ubuntu doesn't support UI scaling like OSX does. So if you want the fonts to be larger you'll probably want to just...
Just had the same problem you described when I went back to test some new things on my retina. Running nvidia-xconfig a second time didn't help though. Did you make any other changes after you...
Sure, the nvidia drivers work as long as you switch to EFI booting, and native resolution worked fine too.
Brightness and wifi were the only issues I ran into. Oh, and compiz crashed now and then.
Yep, it works great, and has quite a bit better support than 12.04 did.
I'm still having trouble with the brightness control and the wifi is flaky sometimes, but overall it's way better.
I just...
Just tried a fresh installation of 12.10 Alpha 2, and still no luck. Did you have to install Bumblebee or anything else to get your graphics working?
Ya, I tried the 302.17 drivers also, but didn't have any luck. I did an upgrade install from 12.04 though, so maybe I should just do a fresh install with 12.10 alpha.
