Is there any reason not to do this? I think we could shorten several pages and consolidate versions into one reference point by doing so. But I don't want to upset anyone by removing existing content.
Have you done everything here?
run the script
reboot
start alsamixer in terminal, set up Master, PCM, Line-Out and switch from 2ch to 6ch
call "sudo alsactl store" in terminal
The solution is given here.
Oh, hey, look at that! More and better output:

Not super!? Mine is 'mighty'. :P
Higher OS versions generally add and expand functionality, not destroy it. Why does this happen in Ubuntu? The change/transition management process needs some...
I like this list and have started working on it. Assigned to sounds like too much obligation, so I changed it to contributors. :P More to the point, though, since this is all volunteer, I don't see...
I believe that computer has a function (fn) key. Try including that in Ctrl-Alt-F2 (so, Ctrl+Alt+Fn+F2). I remember it was either that, or using '2' instead of 'F2', though I can't remember which...
I followed the instructions in this thread to install /lib/firmware/isight.fw, restarted HAL, and then ran gstreamer-properties. But when I click to test Video Default Input (V4L2), I see the...
Yeah, no. I have no luck with the advanced setup (the 'red pill' in that blog post). The instructions in the link don't work for me.
Attached. It's all greek to me....
My entire /etc/defaults/bluetooth reads

I also have a 24" white iMac (iMac6,1) on which I now have Intrepid running quite well. It has the bluetooth wireless mouse and keyboard, which present their own specific problems.
I look forward...
I have been able to connect my white Apple wireless keyboard and mighty mouse (on my white iMac) using 'sudo hidd --connect aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff' where the MAC address corresponds to 'hcitool scan'...
I like this effort and would be happy to help out. My first comment is in regards to getting to this new set of pages. When I look for documentation on Ubuntu, I often start at www.ubuntu.com, click...
I have this account and use it currently. I had previously created another account and no longer use it (had forgotten about it, to be precise). Can I get it deleted? That user account name is...
It's here.
Following up to this thread: no sound macbook 3,1 with hardy 8.04.
Sound from the speakers does not work out of the box on the new MacBook Pro (late 2008, MacBookPro5,1). This seems odd to me,...
This is me. I guess i have two accounts.... quite by accident. It won't happen again!
I have updated https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MacBook%20Aluminum with these instructions, since they worked for me.
I have updated https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MacBook%20Aluminum with some of these changes that worked for me.
kosumi, you're a genius! Option 2 finally solved this problem for me, allowing me to tap-to-click on my MacBook Pro (late 2008). This is so much more elegant and quieter than click-to-click on this...
Problem solved: at the yaboot prompt, run "Linux video=ofonly". Then once booted, edit /etc/yaboot.conf to include the following:
append="video=ofonly"
Yes, this worked for me as well. But after completing the install and rebooting, yaboot loads and boot starts and then the screen fades into white and nothing further happens. A bit scary....
