Yikes! I would like to see the code, but I don't think I would ever attempt something like this. Conky and I have a fragile relationship and I think this would make me pull (the rest of) my hair out....
Thanks, Habitual! Adding the path to adb worked. I figured I was missing something simple like this.
And for completeness, and as requested,
$ conky -v | head -1
Conky 1.8.1 compiled Fri Dec...
Yes I am running conky at startup. I am running it from a script that sleeps 25 seconds before running conky. Maybe I'll try the -p switch instead and see if it makes any difference.
I'm trying to use exec in conky to display the battery capacity from a connected android device. Here is the line:
${if_running adb}Android: ${exec adb shell cat...
I have had success with sendEmail (http://caspian.dotconf.net/menu/Software/SendEmail). Simple and it supports TLS.
Is the ssh server (sshd I think) running on your local system? It sounds like there is nothing listening for incoming ssh connections.
I have the same problem when copying large amounts of data to a 1 TB Seagate USB external drive. If you find a solution, please post it!
Have a look at this guide: How to set NOMODESET and other kernel boot options in grub2
Go to the section titled "How to temporarily set kernel boot options on an installed OS" and use it to add: ...
Click on the logout/shutdown/etc icon and at the bottom of the resulting menu is System Settings. Is this what you're looking for?
I have successfully installed several tools and distros using YUMI: http://www.pendrivelinux.com/yumi-multiboot-usb-creator/
It has worked great for me so far.
The "&" tells the shell to run a command in the background, i.e. you don't have to wait for the command to complete before getting back to a prompt. If you run

My favorite is DVDStyler. http://www.dvdstyler.org/en/
It's the only one that has worked for me consistently without problems. And it it multi-platform.
+1 for Testdisk and Photorec. They have helped me out a few times.
It seems a regression bug has been fixed. I applied the change outlined at http://www.mail-archive.com/linux-media@vger.kernel.org/msg34771.html and the USBLive 2 is working for me now, at least with...
If you're switching distros because you don't like Unity, you can select Ubuntu Classic from the login screen to load Gnome instead.
+1 for trying Photorec. I think sysrescuecd contains Photorec along with other tools.
i386 refers to 32-bit and amd64 refers to 64-bit version. Software listed as amd64 should install on any modern system (that has a 64-bit CPU), whether the CPU is Intel or AMD.
+1 for kdenlive
You could try Clonezilla or Redo Backup.
I'm not at my Natty machine to check for sure, but it seems like there's a netstat option that will show packet counts. Or for more detail, maybe try tcpdump.
Thanks for the info. I'll follow the kernellabs thread and hopefully progress will continue to be made.
I only capture video occasionally, so I don't think it's worth going back to 10.04. But it's...
I'm using Natty 64-bit and I'm trying to get the USB-Live2 capture device to work. I've searched around but can't find anything that works. Here's some info after I plug in the device.

Have a look at Redo Backup.
Not sure what you're asking. Are you asking how to enter the info? Or that it didn't work and you're asking something else?
I just opened a terminal and
sudo vi /etc/default/grub and made the...
