    I'm using Xv output, but when compiz is enabled, video gets flashing. This also goes to gl, gl2 when compiz is enabled. With X11 I can't watch fullscreen. Damn. :/

    When I use gl in mplayer
    1) normal screen mode video is flashing
    2) fullscreen mode is okay ( :)

    BUT both uses 100% CPU, so it's not good solution

    I have to disable the restricted ATI driver,...

    Yeah, you don't need xserver-xgl to run compiz (anymore :)), that's confirmed already :-)

    Seems like xserver-xgl just slows down things...

    I experienced exactly the same. Disabled restricted driver for now to watch xvids ...
