[ubuntu] Re: X11 Window Manager Future

I'm pretty sure it is still included in Noble-24.04 though for the standard Ubuntu system I think wayland is the default.
I steer away from anything to do with gnome so I haven't even tried Ubuntu...

  4. Re: What happened to the Ubuntu community?

    Wait a second or two!
Some new users ask a question in this forum but give so little information that it's impossible to answer them sensibly without asking them questions.

I do it very often and...

Re: Bash like gnu grub menu

Run Boot-repair again from a live USB if necessary, but choose to run just the boot-info script, not any repair.
The output you see will offer to upload the info to pastebin which you should accept...

    Yes indeed it was!
Now, what was his name? I think it was andrew46! Where have I seen that name recently?

    [kubuntu] Re: About root passwd

A first user in Debian is not automatically a member of the sudo group so can not do anything which needs root permissions. However that user can be added to that group, just as he or she is in...

[ubuntu] Re: Firefox.deb crash with kernel 6.8

I have also added myself to the bug

I have now tried using the workaround shown in that bug you linked to at post #57 and using that firefox works as normal from the .tar.bz download.
    Just out of...

[ubuntu] Re: plymouth animation static during boot

I think the plymouth problem on my systems has now righted itself, presumably from the normal updates which I try to do every day.
I have no idea what update may have been.

    I also have a...

[SOLVED] Re: dpkg warnings and how to resolve?

Nothing really to forgive, knowledge is always useful, and I'm slightly at fault in post #2 for saying it was a warning; it was not a warning at aĺl, as MAFoElffen said, but merely information.

[ubuntu] Re: plymouth animation static during boot

Did your system (Ubuntu?) have the quiet splash enabled at installation? My Xubuntu didn't; I had to edit the file manually.
  15. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 24.04 - nautilus no longer show image thumbnails

    Great!
Thanks for that; it will be my next test of what, for me, has been more problematic than many dev versions.
  16. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 24.04 - nautilus no longer show image thumbnails

I have just tried the proposed repos version of apparmor to see if it allowed firefox to run as the .deb or .tar.bz install versions but regrettably it didn't work as I'd hoped.

    I saw some...

  18. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 24.04 - nautilus no longer show image thumbnails

    Interesting!

I wonder if that might solve some of the other 24.04 problems that users are finding and are very annoying, eg the inability to run firefox as a .deb install or using the .tar.bz...

[SOLVED] Re: dpkg warnings and how to resolve?

That warning really is of no consequence at all and you can totally ignore it.
It is simply because a folder (directory) containing files can not be removed with a simple rm command when dealing wit...

[ubuntu] Re: Abour ripping music CD to mp3 files

There will be a different quality reference needed for...
