  3. [ubuntu] Re: 'could not start x server', how to get files off hard drive?

the filesystem check seemed to work - figures that the random wallpaper that opened was the red 'Join the Revolution' one :-P

Seems to connect to my wifi, but without access the interwebs. I'll...
  4. [ubuntu] Re: 'could not start x server', how to get files off hard drive?

Thanks for both ideas - after I posted here, I restarted into recovery mode and this time it recommended a manual filesystem check, which it's doing now. There's a lot of unattached inode stuff.

  5. [ubuntu] 'could not start x server', how to get files off hard drive?

    Hey all,

I will start by stating that I am, most likely, stupid. The cause of my current issue is undoubtedly the fact that I powered the computer off (via power button) while it was booting into...

    [ubuntu] Re: Automatic wireless connections

No, just the meter showing signal strength in the panel.

I'm not sure how to setup a keyring for the WPA pw. I'll have to research it when I get a chance.

    [ubuntu] Automatic wireless connections

I've made the permanent switch to Ubuntu about a month ago, but one issue is confounding me. My wireless network is setup for WPA security, and Ubuntu does not automagically connect when I'm at...

    Re: ?Wine vs. Crossover Games?

So is CrossOver Games the bleeding edge of Wine development? Or just the most stable?

Either way, spending some money to support Wine sounds like a great idea to me.

I don't think the two ideas are mutually exclusive. One of the hurdles to switching completely is Flash or the need to use other Adobe products to collaborate with others. (ex: using Dreamweaver to...

I hear where you're coming from - I'm Windows-based designer too (through strictly web/graphic) and I dabbled with Ubuntu for a month last spring. Finding worthy replacements for all software is...

    Re: Virtualization cpu usage

Thanks. My hope is that I can use Flash like hyperair mentioned using Photoshop. Thankfully, I don't use it too frequently but it is an unfortunate necessity.

    Re: Virtualization cpu usage

I'm sure it's not exact, but I should get an idea of what my cpu hit will be. The main thing I'm curious about is what the cpu hit for VirtualBox itself will be.
