  2. Re: new xf86-input for macbooks and other multitouch-touchpads.

    OK, I think we do need an updated guide now.

    so, we need to install these:
    sudo apt-get install bcm5974-dkms git-core xserver-xorg-dev libmtdev-dev
    right?

    and, Kosumi said "There is also a...
  3. Re: new xf86-input for macbooks and other multitouch-touchpads.

    Instead of downloading it with git (Step 05), try with this one as seen on page 34.

    Instead of '~/multitouch' (Step 06), `cd` to the directory with the extracted files as explained on page 35.

  4. Re: new xf86-input for macbooks and other multitouch-touchpads.

    Nice to know that still helps people,
    maybe we could update my post with the new instructions, and if there's a project webpage coming, and it there :D

    After 10 delightful months, I went back to...
  5. Re: new xf86-input for macbooks and other multitouch-touchpads.

    I guess this is the same little problem that has always happened when installing this driver.
    Take the time to read the whole topic, it's been fun following it :)

    But if you don't have the time...
  6. Re: new xf86-input for macbooks and other multitouch-touchpads.

    It seems you have to be root to do that, put "sudo " before each command.
    I didn't notice it, as I always use root when playing in the terminal :P
  7. Re: new xf86-input for macbooks and other multitouch-touchpads.

    That is known to happen when you first install it :)
    Reload the module like this:
    modprobe -r bcm5974
    modprobe bcm5974

    Or read this little guide:...
  8. Re: new xf86-input for macbooks and other multitouch-touchpads.

    How do I disable the tap-to-click feature now?
  9. Re: new xf86-input for macbooks and other multitouch-touchpads.

    Try removing what you added to /etc/X11/xorg.conf and restart. I'm not completely sure, but I think that's it.
  10. [ubuntu] Re: Macbook Pro 5,4 battery/powermanagement problems

    When I run "./configure" it says:

    checking for LIBUSB_1_0... configure: error: Package requirements (libusb-1.0 >= 0.9.1) were not met:

    No package 'libusb-1.0' found

    I tried running apt-get...
  11. Re: new xf86-input for macbooks and other multitouch-touchpads.

    I haven't been active for a while, too busy with exams, homework, etc… :(

    For right clicking there are two ways:

    Put two fingers on your trackpad and click with both.
    Put two fingers on...
  12. Just a little inspiration

    I saw this software with really nice gestures, so I thought I should post the video here as inspirational material ;)

  13. Re: new xf86-input for macbooks and other multitouch-touchpads.

    I don't think I can help you there…
    I've only seen this working on MacBooks, but let's wait for the answer of those cool guys called developers :)
  14. Re: new xf86-input for macbooks and other multitouch-touchpads.

    I really wanted to, but I think there's no time right now for me to get a camera…

    I'll do some tests now on MacOSX, BRB! :D

    ~~~~~~~~
    I actually made some videos, I recorded them with Jing,...
  15. Re: new xf86-input for macbooks and other multitouch-touchpads.
    Ok, just checked that it's in Lucid, so I removed the step where I said to add Karmic
  16. Re: new xf86-input for macbooks and other multitouch-touchpads.
    Ohh, you're right!
    It's now fixed :D
    You should've used sudo or gksudo to make gedit have root privilegies
    well, you can just copy/paste what I wrote now ;)
  17. Re: new xf86-input for macbooks and other multitouch-touchpads.
    I still can't find the time to make the video I promised :(
    I hate the exam periods >.<
    I'll help now with an install guide for people like the guy above :) (like I was two months ago)
  18. Sorry!
    Ok, I didn't have time this weekend, I forgot I had to study, do homework, and go to my girlfriend's mother's birthday :P
    But as soon as I can, I will be doing the video I promised.
    There are...
  19. Re: new xf86-input for macbooks and other multitouch-touchpads.
    If you want, I can make some testing/asking in MacOSX and give a detailed report on how it exactly works :P
    Maybe even with video included :D
    I guess this weekend I may have enough time
  20. Re: new xf86-input for macbooks and other multitouch-touchpads.
    Is there still a threshold for the "clicking finger" movement?
    In MacOSX that doesn't happen, you can move the lower finger a lot,
    as long as it stays lower than the other finger it doesn't move...
  21. Re: new xf86-input for macbooks and other multitouch-touchpads.
    How do I get to that that branch?
  23. Re: new xf86-input for macbooks and other multitouch-touchpads.
    I've never liked tapping, because of false clicks, but sometimes I activate it when I'm in classes or it's too late and there are people sleeping, it's a lot quieter.
    Also, I've got carpal tunnel...
  24. Re: new xf86-input for macbooks and other multitouch-touchpads.
