You don't need nautilis at all, you can just run the daemon.

Hi!

Did the upgrade through the update-manager, and now I can't get wired networking to work. I've tried the same cable with another pc, working great.

Tried /etc/init.d/networking restart and...

you have to switch back to metacity, by doing

alt+F2
metacity --replace

And to get compiz back you

alt+F2
compiz --replace

Running compiz?
I have that problem now and then, and haven't figured out a solution other then killing compiz.
