The SSD I bought is this one. The price is a bit high now, so I'd wait till it comes down again. I bought the 60GB one for $59.99.
I haven't had it long enough to see how the battery life has...
I just replaced the HDD in my AO722 with an Intel 330 SSD (60GB), and in the process of re-installing the system I struggled once again to get catalyst installed. Neither the fglrx or fglrx-updates...
I'm running catalyst and 12.10 on my 722, and suspend works perfectly. I have not tested hibernate (which is still grayed out -- perhaps there is a way around that).
For me, that was solved by the STA wireless driver, but good to know!
I am now running the latest BIOS, and have nothing to report. The computer still works, but I have not noticed any change from 1.08. FWIW, my computer is a 722-0473
I do have a quick note on...
VTPoet,
Just out of curiosity, are you running the STA broadcom drivers? I have a feeling that this driver fixed my boot issues (i.e. I no longer need "network boot").
Mine was an upgrade using a usb drive, not the software internal to ubuntu. I had to test the Quantal for a bug I filed (shortly before it was released), so I figured I'd just install the latest...
Indeed. On my 722-0473, installing catalyst on 12.10 broke unity (or kept it from loading). The open-source works well enough, but with shorter battery life than catalyst in 11.10.
Has anyone here managed to update their BIOS using FreeDOS? I was asked to update mine to the latest bios (1.8 ) to see if that cures my wifi problems, but so far have been unable to do so.
I...
I just updated to 12.10, and this issue seems to be fixed (fingers crossed). I was able to boot without the network option with no freezes.
No fixes yet on the slow wifi on battery power...
A quick update on the wifi bug.
It turns out that the problem lies in the power control. When running network-manager, wifi slows down when on battery power. But running the following command on...
I just found out about this fix for the wifi on my A0722, and I thought I'd share it here:
http://www.techdrivein.com/2012/09/slow-erratic-wifi-ubuntu1204-fixed.html
At least since installing...
By the way, does anyone know how to get HDMI audio from the ao722 and Radeon drivers? I have changed the grub line to
and updated grub, but I still cannot select the 2nd audio card on the ubuntu...
I get the same output as yours, and I have never had problems with the open source driver either. I followed the above instructions in an attempt to boot straight to the hard drive (i.e. without...
That makes a lot of sense. Thanks!
I can confirm that this works. I managed to boot straight to the HD with these modifications (my netbook has a BCM4313 as well).
Could I ask you to post a brief explanation of each step? I...
I'd be interested in a way to suspend with catalyst as well, as I'm now back to using it.
Neither the stock radeon drivers nor those in the x-swat ppa gave me enough performance to stream in 720p...
FWIW, I just updated my netbook (AO722-0473) to 12.04, and have no issues with the wireless adapter. In fact, the L.E.D. finally turns on (to orange) when the wifi is on. In 11.10, that l.e.d....
Suspend and hibernate do not work, but I've upgraded my RAM after installing Ubuntu, so my swap isn't big enough -- regardless, I suspect that they wouldn't work anyway.
The performance (most...
Also, FWIW, my C-60, running 11.10 and Catalyst 12.3, seems to idle around 55-60 degrees. Seems standard for a laptop cpu.
When I upgrade to 12.04 I'll try to remember to check temps with the...
Ah, silly me. I never got around to installing (and learning how to use) lm-sensor. Thanks!
Just installed it, and it seems to work perfectly - but jupiter still does not post any temp info. Is...
Is there a way to monitor CPU temp on the C-50/C-60 APUs? I was under the impression that this had not been figured out yet (on linux). At least on my C-60, running Catalyst 12.3, the jupiter...
Thanks, xterminus! I forgot to say that I have Flash-aid, and so I'm running the latest 64bit Flash beta. Oddly, with radeon drivers I was still lagging a lot in 480p movies. And I got the...
For what its worth:
I recently tried switching to the open-source drivers, using the latest stable versions from https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat/+archive/x-updates, just so I could play...
