Hey guys
I made the switch from Windows 7 a little while ago and have had a great experience with Ubuntu, until now
While trying to install Minecraft on Natty but have had problems.
First...
It does indeed have this feature. At least in 11.04 (Natty Narwhal). It is safe to presume it is in other versions too
Let's get you back into Ubuntu first.
At the grub prompt type
ls
This will list all the drives and partitions.
You want to find the partition your root is on.
So use
ls (hdX,Y) (don't...
Saw this and immediately went to Randall Munroe's interpretation, http://xkcd.com/225/
Fit's perfectly if no one else linked it (don't have much time to read). I wouldn't use it if Microsoft...
I also use code::blocks. Like you I used it on Windows 7 and was just used to it.
Code::Blocks is pretty much the same on Linux as it is on Windows. At least with my experience
I also agree with others here, You will have a much better time with Xubuntu. The Ubuntu installation process is quite straight forward too so you'll be fine
So the message of the day (and every day) is 'Don't run things as root unless you absolutely need to'. I learnt that the hard way.... well not really, it was a virtual maachine
Ubuntu is capable of formatting HDDs and creating partitions during install
I also have the problem that it seems to be all concept now. I can't find a video of the system that doesn't look like it's trying to sell me something (which is the purpose really but you know)
Sure Graphics aren't everything but still, to me it just seems like a tablet built like a console. I want to support it, but I don't have the money to be an early adopter only for it to fail
I want to support it, it looks awesome. It sounds too good to be true however. I just can't justify paying 99 euro ($99 + shipping) for something which is an android tablet on a TV, albeit probably...
Good point, even then, 30 million is a lot of elements. I really just wondered why the OP needed so many. By the sounds of it they were just testing the limitations of their computer/code.
You...
Exactly, as I said I too need to brush up on my C++ knowledge
A few years ago I asked the same thing.
Pointers aren't very useful in very small programs (the type used to illustrate concepts of C++ or any language) so declaring variables is easier.
To...
I had to comment on this..... 30 million elements? Damn, that's a lot of memory usage. I'm interested in knowing why you needed that many. When I learned about arrays it was to display my name or...
I never really had a problem with rebooting to use a different OS. I use Ubuntu 90% of the time and Windows only for certain programs (I don't really like wine, for Steam stuff).
I also have...
I highly recommend creating a virtual machine to test out Ubuntu first on windows. See if you like the thing.
I also highly recommend Dual Booting Ubuntu with Windows, Wine can be a bit tricky and...
I know not of a MozBackUp equivalent for ubuntu but this thread may help, here.
I'm not going to bother with Windows 8, Windows 7 works fine for me when I need it and 8 just doesn't seem like my style.
However I can appreciate the price drop, are Microsoft learning that I...
Glad it worked for you mate. Enjoy your solitaire

Haven't given up..... well I haven't
It might be this, I'm 95% sure (could be something different but I doubt it)
A .lnk file points to the .exe file for the Hardwood Solitaire game. It's a shortcut to the game. If the other icon is...
