[ubuntu] Re: Static IP keeps trying to switch back to DHCP?

The file exists in /var/lib/dhcp (not dhcp3)

    Permissions are:

    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 2012-01-06 16:08 dhclient.leases

[ubuntu] Re: Static IP keeps trying to switch back to DHCP?

I'll check on Monday when I'm back at work, but why would this cause an issue? The server is not acting as a DHCP server and shouldn't be acting as a DHCP client. I've got /etc/network/interfaces...

[ubuntu] Re: Nautilus showing DUPE share in PLACES?

I realise this is an old post, so there's probably no one following it, but I'm experiencing the exact same problem on natty 11.04 x64, so if the problem has been marked as fixed, it still exists
  5. [all variants] Re: Dual WAN router, update bind9 behind NAT with current connection

It does work, but there is a definite delay in trying the second IP. My guess is there is a wait for timeout before trying the second address. Not perfect, but workable.

    Thanks.
  6. [all variants] Re: Dual WAN router, update bind9 behind NAT with current connection

That does seem to do the trick, at least the nslookup returns both addresses.

The test will be to see what sort of delay this introduces if one is down. Will any www request wait a while for a...
  7. [all variants] Re: Dual WAN router, update bind9 behind NAT with current connection

I didn't think that was possible. How do I format the db file? Is it a second A records for the same entry or a second ip address trailing the first.

Here's one of my db files:

    ;
    ; BIND...
  8. [all variants] Dual WAN router, update bind9 behind NAT with current connection

    Hi,

I've got a dual WAN router (linksys RV082) with 2 static ip addresses.

I have a variety of serves behind the router, including web, mail, and my own bind9 dns hosting a bunch of my own...

[ubuntu] Re: Can lxc and Virtualbox co-exist

Thanks for the fantastic info, this is exactly what I was after.

LXC seems to work extremely well, very similar to OpenVZ without the custom kernel. The only real issue is the lack of...

[ubuntu] Re: Can lxc and Virtualbox co-exist

It looks like bridge-utils is the networking method used for lxc, and bridge utils does take up the interface it's bridged to, so at least one spare interface is required.

    I believe that multiple...

[ubuntu] Re: Can lxc and Virtualbox co-exist

So far it seems that you can. The only issue that I am having is using the bridged network adapter. It's probably a good idea to use 2 separate network adapters, and bridge one for Virtualbox and...

[ubuntu] Re: Can a lucid lxc host run a hardy guest?

Not really no, but I played a bit further last night and downloaded a pre-built hardy x86 container and was able to start it on my lucid host!

I didn't get a chance to test it running anything on...

[ubuntu] Can a lucid lxc host run a hardy guest?

I'm new to the quasi vitualisation of lxc, so be gentle!

As the title says, is it possible to run a hardy guest on a lucid lxc host of the same architecture?

    Thanks,

[ubuntu] Can lxc and Virtualbox co-exist

I have a decent server that is a few years old and restricted to 32 bit. It has plenty of ram and processing power, so I'm very reluctant to upgrade to a newer system.

At the moment I am running...
  15. [all variants] Re: Server with multiple eth connections, static connection can't connect to internet

Every other machine on the network uses it without issues and the only static routes set up on the linksys are for a vpn tunnel, and only a few port forwards for...
  16. [all variants] Server with multiple eth connections, static connection can't connect to internet

    Hi,

I've got a server running 9.04 server with gnome frontend installed.

The server has 3 ethernet connections. The main, eth0, is static, eth1 is DHCP assigned. eth2 is not used at present.
