I don't see anything in messages around the time of when I touch the screen and get a freeze. The last messages logged there are from about 2 minutes before that.

I'll give this a try, but since touch is currently freezing the system I suspect it wont be much help. Tonight, I will compile a newer evdev from source and see if that helps with the freezing....
