  2. [ubuntu] Re: Sharing files between Win7 (host) and Ubuntu 12.04 (guest) in VirtualBox

    Thanks for your response.

I agree that something isn't right with my permissions since both guest and host can't see the files but only my shared folder.

Here is what my settings are:

  5. [ubuntu] Re: Unable to Connect to Internet (Wired) in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

Thanks Chili555 for your help. I had to move on to doing the install on another computer with a ethernet card that Ubuntu recognized. It's all setup now :) Despite not getting this resolved because...
  6. [ubuntu] Re: Unable to Connect to Internet (Wired) in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

I uploaded the build-essentials, dpkg-dev, libc6, libc6-dev, qt4-qmake, g++, gcc deb files but continue to have trouble installing them. I see dependency issues which is preventing package...
  7. [ubuntu] Re: Unable to Connect to Internet (Wired) in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

I hope this is not a problem (crossing-fingers) but I read that it would be okay to dual boot Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 64-bit on a 32-bit Windows system. Is this not so? I am sure it would be better to run...
  8. [ubuntu] Re: Unable to Connect to Internet (Wired) in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

    Good to know. Thanks
  9. [ubuntu] Re: Unable to Connect to Internet (Wired) in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

  10. [ubuntu] Re: Unable to Connect to Internet (Wired) in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

I was able to find the build-essentials_11.4build1_amd64.deb in my VirtualBox in the /var/cache/apt/archives folder. Does this deb have all of the files I am supposed to download?
  11. [ubuntu] Re: Unable to Connect to Internet (Wired) in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

Comes to think of it instead of individually installing I was wondering if I can just download the build-essentials off of the http://packages.ubuntu.com/lucid/amd64/build-essential/download called...
  12. [ubuntu] Re: Unable to Connect to Internet (Wired) in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

Just a thought...I have the same version of Ubuntu running on a Virtual Box on a Windows machine. Is there a way that I can tar the build-essentials files up off that Ubuntu machine and then load...
  13. [ubuntu] Re: Unable to Connect to Internet (Wired) in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

Thanks, glad to know that it looks right.

    Here is my output...apparently I don't have build-essentials installed.

    sudo dpkg -s build-essential
Package `build-essential' is not installed and...

  15. [ubuntu] Re: Unable to Connect to Internet (Wired) in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

I just looked over the link you mentioned in your post and it makes more sense. I'll compile the e1000e.
  16. [ubuntu] Re: Unable to Connect to Internet (Wired) in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

Thanks for your response and feedback. I would like to stick to using the 10.04LTS version for now.

In Ubuntu, I put the e1000e-1.6.2 driver in my /usr/src directory. I did not do anything to it...

  18. [ubuntu] Re: Unable to Connect to Internet (Wired) in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

I've been reading more about this elsewhere and I am thinking that since my Ethernet Controller is an Intel Corporation Device 1502 it does not automatically work with Ubuntu. I was told elsewhere to...
