Poll: Re: Which is better? eog or gThumb?

Just set gqview to not show the toolbar by default. tada! elegant interface.

showing animated gifs is a feature, but not a requirement for any image viewer as far as I'm concerned.

    gthumb is...

Poll: Re: Which is better? eog or gThumb?

    neither.

GQview is fast as a bat outta hell, and a great image viewer with a similar "film strip" approach as GThumb.

Gthumb is still nice for fast machines and does great web albums. However...

Re: You fav light weight apps

"bloated" is such a loaded word, but vi, for a joe user, certainly is overly complex. ;)

    Re: GNOME versus KDE

I totally understand. I used KDE with Suse and Mandrake from 2000-3, and KDE was quite nice under both distros, and I'd always cut it way down visually. Then I went to Fedora I and II and it used...

    Re: GNOME versus KDE

It's very simple really, just install kubuntu-desktop and switch between the two and see for yourself.

I used KDE for a number of years and liked it just fine, now I use Gnome as I like it a bit...

    Re: PCLinuxOS

PCLinuxOS is fantastic for somebody that needs a system with all the bells and whistles, and wants them fast. It doesn't seem as stable as Ubuntu...the live CD is fantastic...and the legality of the...

Re: What XFCE has going for it

I like xfce, but w/o the toolbars. I replace them with the simple fbpanel instead.

I use Rox or Emelfm to manage files as xffm and thunar aren't there yet. I like Nautilus better, but don't like...

Re: Announcing Ubuntu Notebooks and Desktops

If I was in the market for a budget lappie (in the US) I'd go to the soulless Circuit City and pick up a basic Acer for $600, reduce XP home to 10g (sometimes it's handy to have) and use the...

    Re: I want a good thumbnail/photo viewer/editor

I love GQview, as it's simple, logical, and fast. For editing I use Gimp externally--you can just right click on an image in GQview and send it to Gimp.

Gthumb is nice as well, but a bit heavy...

Re: Announcing Ubuntu Notebooks and Desktops

Nice stuff, though I'm quite curious as to why you and Emperorlinux don't have any sub $1300 offerings. A basic 12" iBook is $300 less than the cheapest model.

I do understand that most folks...

    Re: gimpshop- a good idea?

Just use Gimp. Photoshop and Gimp both have complex interfaces, I don't find one much better than the other, though I prefer Gimp simply because I'm used to it. I do love Gimp's dockable dialogs, and...
