    That's correct, I do not have a disc, or even a disc drive. I should point out that this process has worked in the past when I've reinstalled Windows. Any further thoughts?

    No, not exactly. After I reinstalled Windows, I was able to boot into Windows once (and Ubuntu once before too), the Windows desktop came up, and it started a bunch of post-install configurations....
