It's not limited to the repo's. That was just an example.
I am not in the USA but in the EU. The fact that geoip says my IP address is in the USA is a bug or an error IMHO.

20 or 50 miles off would be OK for me. A lot better than reporting a location at the other side of the planet. Reporting the correct country (or even continent) would allow me to select a nearby...
If I visit a site in the EU I get the cookie messages. I don't see what it has to do with the geo ip issue.
The Ubuntu geoip service has an issue (or I have an issue with the Ubuntu geoip service...
Ever since switching internet provider, geoip.ubuntu.com/lookup is showing USA as country. I am however living in the Netherlands, which was reported as my country before the switch.
The command...
Thanks. Didn't know that sub-forum existed.
I am using Linux Mint, which is based on Ubuntu. Today I discovered the package sources app is actually a Python script. I edited it and hard coded my country. Maybe one day I make it use ipinfo.io,...
Apparently the package sources app is using the geoip service to determine the list of mirrors to show. If geoip has quirks, it would be nice to see the list of mirrors based on ipinfo.io (or have...
As I wrote I am not using a VPN.
The command you gave results in country NL, which is correct.
The command
wget -qO - http://geoip.ubuntu.com/lookup | sed -r 's/></>\n</g'
returns USA as country, while I am living in the Netherlands. I am not using a VPN, and three different "what's my ip"...
I am having the same problem, with the opposite setup: host is Linux, guest is Windows XP.
If I try to maximize the window, part of the border dissapears (see first two screenshot fragments), and...
My problem is solved! See topic Missing window decorations with Metacity and with Compiz.
After removing the following files:

Thanks for mentioning .local and .config/autostart. After renaming, and one by one unrenaming them, I found the cause:
In .local/share/applications is a file (among 30 other ones) called...
I am at 10.10.
But the strange thing is that System - About Ubuntu says I am using 11.04. But I didn't upgrade to 11.04. And the update manager everytime remembers me that there is a release upgrade...
Well, drastic...
I tried it. My desktop returned to a default Ubuntu look, but still no window decorations, until I ran metacity --replace.
So it looks like it is not a gconf issue. But what else...
I am having the same problem when I use Metacity. Does that point in a direction where I could search?
Emerald is not installed.
Since a few weeks my window decorations are missing. Only my account is affected, two other accounts on the same machine are not affected.
Disabling compiz, reverting to metacity does not solve...
That's a pity, because I am facing the same problem. So far without a solution.
The compiz settings are in /apps/compiz.
But again ... no changes.
I removed the directory .gconf/compiz, and restored from a backup (made when everything was ok). Doesn't solve the problem.
Besides running "compiz --replace &" (or metacity --replace &) changing...
I didn't try that, because it looks like another situation. I never used or installed Unity. I am still on 10.10.
Looking at the configuration files, once we know where they are, looks like the way...
I am still on 10.10, and as of today am having the same problem. The problem only occurs on one of the three user accounts on my system. The other two are not affected.
Running metacity --replace...
Hello all,
Not sure if this is an Ubuntu problem or a hardware (Asus) problem.
I added an SSD (Intel SSD 320 80GB) to my system (motherboard is an Asus M2N32 SLI). I reinstalled Ubuntu 10.10 64...
I am having the same problem with the update manager trying to download Translation-nl.
W:Failed to fetch http://nl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/maverick/main/i18n/Translation-nl.bz2 Error...
Yes, it does.
That was it! I removed 00_header.lucid, ran update-grub, and the problem is solved.
Many thanks!
