OK, thank You...
:~$ python3 --version
Python 3.10.0a2
Still, it does not have any connection with important matter in this thread... ;)
Waiting for those packages to catch up with Python 3.9...
I'll wait as I did so many times before. Eventhough I'm usin' Python 3.10, at this moment, this was just a HU for all of You. Some packages are not ready for Python 3.9 and some of us are not ready...
For a week now,
:~$ sudo apt dist-upgrade Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Calculating upgrade... Done
The following packages...
I'd say: You're right... It seems so. Great.
Done, eventhough I'm, still, not sure about culprit.
I do use i3 and similar and mouse freeze is present so I suspect that the reason for that is somewhere else. Due to very different kernels used, it is not in a kernel either. Got used to that... ;)...
5.10.0-051000rc5drmtip20201128 is the first in this series that boots and it does it very nice.
Still no bootable drm-tip... ;)
All 5.10s (I guess Your “5.3„ is just typo) are fine here too, just drmtip from mainline is still obstructive... No retreat...
HU:
https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/drm-tip/current/
Installs fine, stalls on boot. Not destructive, just obstructive.
Shame on You... ;)

What is the meaning of word: canidate? I can not find it, eve though I've tried hard. To see where is possible missunderstanding... ;)
There are both focal and focal-security and all subbranches, as I can see it: http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu
P.S. I missed the point that You're using Kubuntu so... Mea culpa.
There are both focal and focal-security and all subbranches, as I can see it: security.ubuntu.com ...
I did not have any relationship with that change... ;)
It's OK with me.
True for kern.log but that does not make it right... ;) About documentation: better not to start, I'll get banned for complaining. Never mind, that made me, for decades, learn to learn much...
Not a solution but a workaround:
sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-pfilter.conf
insert:
install bpfilter /bin/false
close and refresh initramfs:
sudo update-initramfs -ckall (if You want to...
