I just received a WARNING about my post using bad language (seen below) in which a user said that initramfs-tools TRASHED his system completely. I pointed out that perhaps there was some problem with...
Oh I'm sure the "Take a Screenshot" utility doesn't do everything this SNAGIT application can do, but until the OP tells his explicitly what he needs done my post should be sufficient.
Applications, Accessories, "Take a Screenshot" will take a screen shot of anything you have open. The command is: gnome-screenshot --interactive
Also, in the repositories is gtk_recordmydesktop...
apt-get install gtk_recordmydesktop
First of all, why are you running conky as root? Conky is meant to be run as a user as a system monitor for the desktop.
I can see where you need conky to access a priviledged command or script...
Remove everything you have added and add this example at the VERY BOTTOM, as in the last line of /etc/sudoers:
ray rushmore = NOPASSWD: /bin/kill, /bin/ls, /usr/bin/lprm
This allows the...
xrandr --output LVDS --set BACKLIGHT_CONTROL native && /etc/init.d/acpid restart
name it "keys", make it owned by root and executable, put it in /etc/init.d
and then link it to...
gksudo nautilus /home/your-username/Desktop
right click, remove file

diff -r /folder1 /folder2 > difference

My post installed the Ubuntu program secure-delete and recommended adding the executable...
SMS is SMS whether it's via email, or a IM.
I send an email to email@example.com and I get the message immediately.
If I send it via ANY SMS software, its the same thing.
I send SMS messages via email all the time. Would that work? Have her send a SMS to your email and note her cell phones SMS address. Then, you can send her SMS messages via evolution/thunderbird or...
Installing *buntu on the other hard-drive isn't going to "ruin" windows.
Not sure I understand what it is that you did, but you could always boot to single user mode / recovery mode and apt-get install whatever you deleted.
I installed secure-delete and added a /etc/crontab to run srm -rl /home/[your username]/.local/share/Trash/files/* everyday at 3am
works great :)
-a implies -rlpogx:
man rsync| grep -a
-a, --archive archive mode; same as -rlptgoD (no -H, -A)
Delete everything in the destination and run:
rsync --delete-after --exclude-from=exclude -avz /source /destination
Then make a file called exclude and put in it any files folders you want...
I agree the above tar command would work, and I know this is HIGHLY debatable, but if you use the above tar command as stated, I would do it in recovery mode to limit the number of open files. Again,...
partimage and dd do the same thing as ghost
