  1. [xubuntu] Re: How do you keep your smart playlists in Banshee after reinstalling?

This information is stored in ~/.config/banshee-1/banshee.db , which is an SQLite database. This can be read with something like sqlite3 (command line) or sqliteman (gui).

    Specifically, the...

[ubuntu] Re: Major problem when upgrading to 9.10

Ok, so when I booted into the alpha5 liveCD, I *did* get to the full desktop, and could mount my drives, but the OS locked up ~3 minutes after I started. The first time in, I verified that xorg *was*...

[ubuntu] Re: Major problem when upgrading to 9.10

Bleh. The condition has gone from bad to worse. I ssh'd into the system this morning and ran an aptitude update, then safe-upgrade, and renamed the xorg.conf to see if that was causing problems....

[ubuntu] Re: Major problem when upgrading to 9.10

I checked out the Xorg log, and saw a message immediately before tons of messages corresponding to the same lock issue, which indicated that Xorg *did* believe that a device is attached to s-video...

[ubuntu] Re: Major problem when upgrading to 9.10

The radeon problem looks similar to this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/270646 , except I don't have any external displays attached, and am not explicitly calling xrandr. Does karmic do this...

[ubuntu] Re: Major problem when upgrading to 9.10

Update: I was able to ssh into the system while it was at the login prompt (normal boot). I can post the full syslog, but these appear to be the last lines before dying:

    Sep 14 15:46:02 dixon...

[ubuntu] Re: Major problem when upgrading to 9.10

I also just ran an upgrade from 9.04 to 9.10 using update-manager -d, and can never get the system to fully come up. Twice I've been able to get to the login screen before the system hangs, but when...
  8. [ubuntu] Re: HOW TO: Install VMware Server 2 without X Server

Apparently VIClient tries to connect to 443/tcp by default. I recognized this as the default port for https, but vmware-server2 runs https on 8333 by default. If you enter '10.0.0.130:8333' in the...

[ubuntu] Re: Missing Options in Network Manager 0.70

I just upgraded my T61 to Intrepid today, and can no longer connect to my corporate network, either. It uses WPA(1) with PEAP, TKIP, and EAP-MSCHAP-v2. This used to work fine in Hardy. Sorry I don't...

[ubuntu] Re: Opera 64-bit CPU Usage

Yes, I also have this problem, which I also find to be incredibly obnoxious. I've resorted to basically using tilda (quake-style console) to always have 'killall operapluginwrapper-native' primed to...

[ubuntu] Re: Rhythmbox 'too many open files'

I'm not sure it's necessarily filenames with spaces, but my rhythmbox definitely does fail to import a ton of files that it can't decode, prior to failing with the "too many files open" error....

I just wanted to note that I'm experiencing this problem as well. This thread is the only google result for this problem right now. :/
