    [ubuntu] Re: Best LaTeX editor?

Kile is great. If you want more of a WYSIWYM editor, there's LyX. Of course, there's always VIM with the "vim-latexsuite" package.

[ubuntu] Re: web mail check program

I know there's one for GMail called "CheckGmail", which is in the Add\Remove Programs menu somewhere. As for Yahoo Mail and Hotmail, I don't think there is. If you log into them with as IM accounts...

    Re: Funpidgin for Intrepid?

That would be enough for me, though I'd still love to see it default in Intrepid. I may not use GNOME, but I'd still love to see something besides Pidgin. I mean, the Pidgin devs go against the...

Re: A funny anti internet explorer picture

    [ubuntu] Re: C Programming

A security risk? Could you please explain that? I've never heard anyone say that about build-essential

Re: Best Converter from MP3 to Ogg? AoTuV?

MP3 to OGG? OGG Convert or Audioconverter for Gnome, or audioKonverter for KDE. I personally use the latter.

    Re: funpidgin - pidgin fork!

Really? That's strange. Last time I installed ubuntu-desktop, and then tried to remove pidgin to install kopete, I could have swore it said it couldn't. Maybe I'm confusing it with something else...

[ubuntu] Re: Distro in a distro?

You might want to try running it in a virtual machine. "virtualbox" is a good application for such endeavors.

You could ask for help in the Virtualization forum. There's even a topic for getting...

    As posted in my LiveJournal:

This comes during the Virtualization talk by Soren Hansen.

    Re: funpidgin - pidgin fork!

Good to know they did that for Hardy. Sadly, it currently doesn't work on my PC. It has problems with my SATA drives, and the workaround causes more problems than it helps. Therefore, I'm still using...

    Re: funpidgin - pidgin fork!

For some people, though, it's more of a problem of "ethics" and the fact that Pidgin is default for Ubuntu. You can't even install ubuntu-desktop without having it install pidgin, and uninstalling it...

    Re: funpidgin - pidgin fork!

I can manually resize the chat input box in Kopete, Trillain(for Windows), and even the main ICQ\MSNM\AIM\YIM\etc in Windows. Now, what other IM clients have you used that disable manual resizing of...

    I vote for Jolly Jackal.
  15. Re: OpenBSD slams RIchard Stallman in release song...

Heh. I use KDE, so I'm not using GNOME.

BTW, I'm relistening to that interview, and I still have a hard time following RMS' train of thought. He's all over the map, and trips over himself several...

    Re: My KDE Experience

KDE4 isn't ready, no. However, KDE 3.5.9 is just fine. I always suggest sticking with it until KDE 4.1 is released, at the least.

    Re: My KDE Experience

Strange, I use Kubuntu all the time. I've been using it since Fiesty, actually. I've never had a problem with the UI. I use KDE 3.5.9, but still.

Acelin, what did you use, KDE 3.5.9 or KDE4?

Re: Found this at Ci-Ci's Pizza..

Awesome. Linux is spreading. Maybe someone should put up a sign telling everyone how to get the "home version". ;)

Re: Notice for new users of Linux - Use Gutsy

I would gladly use Hardy, except that the 2.6.24-16 kernel doesn't like my SATA drives, and doesn't get beyond a busybox prompt. If I upgrade, it'll do the same unless I use the 2.6.22 kernel from...

  22. Re: OpenBSD slams RIchard Stallman in release song...

If you want a good example of that, go listen to The Linux Link Tech Show, episode 165. He's extremely hard to interview, too.

Warning: Show has some vulgar language. Download at own risk.

Why did that give me VERY nasty thoughts? Ugh... I need a brain-brushing.
  24. Re: OpenBSD slams RIchard Stallman in release song...

Probably GNU\[Censored], judging from what I've heard from his speeches and interviews.
  25. Re: OpenBSD slams RIchard Stallman in release song...

After listening to both of his TLLTS interviews, I'm inclined to agree with you. The second one was just... well, 'embarrassing' is too light of a word to use there, and I can't think of another word...
