[ubuntu] Re: Swap filling up but not emptying.

I've tried not using Chrome for a while, using Firefox instead and the same happens so I think I can rule out Chrome.

[ubuntu] Re: Swap filling up but not emptying.

I tried that but it says it cannot allocate memory. When you swapoff it tries to put what was in swap into RAM but there's not enough RAM.

Poll: Re: Does your Ubuntu boot in 10 seconds?

My boot time is an amazing 1:14. I recorded how long it took to reboot my computer and it was 3:09~. It's a 5ish year old ThinkPad T61 with a 5400 RPM hard drive.

    Re: Google is killing iGoogle

I think they should replace it with Google Now, which they introduced with Android 4.1 Jellybean. It would give mostly the same information, unless you had RSS feeds.

  16. Re: SpotCommander: Remote control Spotify for Linux

Sorry, that didn't work. The buttons don't do anything, the browser is pretty rubbish especially with newer websites.
  17. Re: SpotCommander: Remote control Spotify for Linux

It doesn't work with my ageing Pre 2, but then I'm not surprised.

[ubuntu] Re: Suggest An Internet Speed meter

Conky's a bit funny. You need to run it in a Terminal and then a window will pop up. It's a useful tool and you should probably read up on it. You can monitor pretty much anything. If you use compiz...
  20. [ubuntu] Re: Memory management: how can I make Ubuntu run like new again?

This seems like hardly any memory to go on, try Xubuntu or Lubuntu. I think Ubuntu recommends 1GiB in memory for Ubuntu.
  21. [SOLVED] Re: Getting back to square one? I really screwed things up.

    You could try:

    sudo apt-get remove ubuntu-desktop
This should remove the Ubuntu stuff and put you back to Lubuntu.
