Thank you, Mastablasta. I'm trying back in time right now. I've always had minor issues with Deja Dup, where it wouldn't backup certain files, but everything else would back up so I continued to use...
My backups keep failing. I'm backing up to a USB hard drive, and I'm getting the following error. Can anyone tell me what might be causing this? I'm only trying to back up my home folder, not any...
I mean that it freezes up for a second, and then logs off when I'm in the middle of doing things. I could be looking at email or watching a video or browsing the web or anything. It just kills...
I've just installed Ubuntu 14.04 on a Dell Inspiron 15 5000 series laptop (5558 series to be exact), and I'm having an issue where Ubuntu just randomly logs off. It doesn't matter what program is...
In my opinion, what you did wrong was to install RhythmBox. Have you tried Banshee? It is a much superior media player. You can go to the website at http://www.banshee.fm to check it out.

To everyone who tried to help, thank you very much! I just stumbled across the fix. I found the bad entry in my Gnome Main Menu settings. I selected the 'Restore System Configuration' option at the...
I just tried uninstalling chrome and all related files and folders that I could find in /usr/share and in /home/<username>/.config, and then rebooted and reinstalled, and I still have the same issue.
Here is the whole file:
[Default Applications]
x-scheme-handler/mailto=thunderbird.desktop
message/rfc822=userapp-Thunderbird-QD6RDX.desktop...
There was alot of information in there, but I think these are the lines that have to do with the browser:
text/html=google-chrome.desktop
x-scheme-handler/http=google-chrome.desktop...
When I chose the option 0 for auto mode, it still doesn't work.
Here is what returns:
nmyrick@Aquarius2:~$ ls -al /usr/bin/google-chrome-stable
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 32 Oct 21 20:59 /usr/bin/google-chrome-stable -> /opt/google/chrome/google-chrome
FYI: My Chrome updates are coming from the repository 'http://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/deb/stable main', not from the ubuntu software center. This way I always get the latest stable updates for...
I just tried switching to '0 /usr/bin/google-chrome-stable 200 auto mode' in the terminal, and it still shows the wrong info in the default applicatons drop-down.
Here is what I get when entering sudo update-alternatives --config x-www-browser
There are 2 choices for the alternative x-www-browser (providing /usr/bin/x-www-browser).
Selection Path ...
In my troubleshooting, when I completely remove chrome using the synaptic package manager, the information in the drop-down menu goes away. But then when I reinstall chrome, the same bad information...
Thank you, but the whole issue is that Google Chrome is not what is showing up in my details section. It shows the chrome icon, but the wrong information.
I figure the drop down menu must pull information from a file somewhere that I need to edit, but I don't know what file.
Thank you for your reply. I've already tried that and it didn't work. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling chrome. There must be a config text file somewhere that contains this information, but...
Thanks, but since this post is listed under general help what I'm looking for is an answer to my issue, not whether or not it works for everyone else. Do you know how I can fix this?
I would like to use Google Chrome as my default browser, but it keeps showing up incorrectly in the default applications screen, and therefore no links will open properly. I have tried uninstalling,...
When installing 'Sound', among other packages, it also installs the following two packages which I believe are what actually fixes the issue. Sound also puts a nice front-end to the processes.

I had the same issue, until I installed an application from the software center called 'Sound', which as a recall now, I had installed this app on 13.10 and my bluetooth audio was working before the...
Well, if the issues were resolved in 13.04, they re-appeared in 13.10. I've tried several of the supposed solutions and they do not work. I've tried installing go-mtpfs, and mtp-tools, and neither...
@ Rachel - I just found a much easier way to download Adobe Digital Editions. Go to your software center and install 'Winetricks'. In Winetricks, you will see where you can select 'Install an App'. ...
If you cant find libdvdcss2 on the VideoLan website, libdvdcss should also work. It worked for me and I am running Ubuntu 13.10.
