  1. Re: My ubuntu server now has a gui I didnt install and wont let me open terminal

Use ctrl+alt+F1 to ctrl+alt+F7 to switch between the TTYs. one of them has the GUI, the others are command line interfaces.

If the GUI was somehow recently installed, it should be in the log...
  2. [SOLVED] Re: How do I get rid of the blank screen I get after trying to boot Ubuntu 18.04.4 LT

If the manufacturer didn't explicitly state that 20.04 doesn't work, then chances are that the manufacturer simply forgot to update instructions after 20.04 was released. And if you install 18.04.4...

    Re: Issue with kernel upgrade

Your linux-modules-extra-5.4.0-66-generic still hasn't been properly installed. dpkg --configure -a did something, but not all that had to be done.

Maybe a few apt-get install -f and dpkg...

It's a bit weird that you get an "operation not permitted" error (which is different from the "permission denied" error). I may have found one lead:...
  6. Re: How to access files/directories created in Linux

Or you can simply use Ubuntu to send those files. Why would you need Windows to send in your assignments?

Re: I could not resize the file root size

No, to make your root partition larger you need unallocated space next to it. Partitions can only be extended into unallocated space. So you can extend sda12 that way, but that isn't useful.

    35GB,...

At least there's an error message. Let's investigate. Why is that operation not permitted? Redownload the package files to rule out file corruption.

Re: I could not resize the file root size

14 partitions? No wonder you've some difficulty managing that. But the important bits have been said: partition must be unmounted and unallocated space must be adjacent.

    Re: Issue with kernel upgrade

The linux-modules-extra packages for kernel 5.4.0-45 and higher haven't been installed. I think that causes your wireless problem. They have been marked for installation.

    Let's see how apt itself...
  11. [SOLVED] Re: The package must be reinstallled, no files can be found

Are you sure you want to fix this? 16.04 only has 2 months of support left, so in 2 months you have to move to a more recent release. That could be 18.04, but you can also jump straight to 20.04. If...

Re: I could not resize the file root size

The screenshot doesn't really look like gparted. Anyway, what may be the problem is that you cannot change a partition when it's mounted. So you have to boot a live disk and do your changes from...

    Re: Issue with kernel upgrade

Your hardware works with kernel 5.4.0-42, which means that it should work with all 5.4 kernels unless some contain a bug. There should be no need for 5.10 or 5.8 kernels. So why are you trying to...

  18. [SOLVED] Re: "[Errno 5] Input/output error" during installation
