  1. [ubuntu] Re: Can't compile 20.04 LTS kernel with increased CONFIG_DVB_MAX_ADAPTERS

Thanks norobro, That is pretty much what I did and it did let me compile it. Why editconfigs did not get the job done this time is above my pay grade, but at least I could compile a new kernel and...
  2. [ubuntu] Can't compile 20.04 LTS kernel with increased CONFIG_DVB_MAX_ADAPTERS

Not my first rodeo, but certainly not an expert on this. I've been compiling custom kernels for over 5 years for a server I have 4 quad tv tuner cards in. The default kernel has...
  3. Re: Bandwidth problem between distant servers

I can see how I was not clear. Sorry about that. It made perfect sense to me :-)

The current test from Swamp to Boston is as direct as I can go. The Swamp is copper connected directly to a...
  4. Re: Bandwidth problem between distant servers

    Hello TheFu,

Guess I was not clear. This problem is with a direct fiber connection, no microwave in use now. Also, I could test across the microwave link and that was never the problem.

    Thanks...
  5. Bandwidth problem between distant servers

For a long time we have had fiber + microwave feeding a server in the Florida swamp. We could get data copied to/from our server in Boston at top speed of the microwave (approx 250mbps). Then...
  6. [server] Fresh install of 15.10 server and no network!

I installed this originally with no network available. When it couldn't detect the network I just choose "skip it", or whatever the dialog choice was. But now that I have the network back it won't...

    Testing a 250mb/s connection

I use a couple linux servers in a remote location, and recently the internet connection to the facility was reworked to now use a microwave connection and a 250mb/s fiber connection upstream.

  8. [server] Install to another drive from within shell

This seems like it should be possible, but I don't know how :-)

I have two remote servers about 2000 miles away, and yesterday while updating one to 15.10 something went south. Someone stopped by...

    Re: routing with two NICs

Thank you both for your suggestions, but nothing led me to a solution. I suppose now would be a good time for a little more detail.

The linux server is using wlan0 to connect to a wireless hotspot...

I have two network interfaces on a headless server. wlan0 and eth0. wlan0 is assigned a dynamic ip address from a wireless hotspot and is the access to the outside world. I would like to attach...

  12. [SOLVED] Re: Troubles capturing video: "Value too large for defined data type"

This is running on an Intel s2600coe dual proc motherboard with 64gb ram and two of the fastest Xeon procs Intel sells.

That might have worked, never got to test it. However, I'm trying to...
  13. [SOLVED] Re: Troubles capturing video: "Value too large for defined data type"

Problem solved! This did resolve it. I presume this is the dvb device that azap is writing to, and that the buffer just doesn't get drained fast enough on startup.

    Shame this is not configurable...
  14. [SOLVED] Re: Troubles capturing video: "Value too large for defined data type"

Thanks, I think I will give it a try. Since ffmpeg can process the data from a file faster than real time, it just seems like it should be able to process it from the device. What do I know...

  15. [SOLVED] Re: Troubles capturing video: "Value too large for defined data type"

No, the error is not in ffmpeg. It appears to be the error returned from a POSIX call that ffmpeg fluffs out. Still looking but loosing hope...

  16. [SOLVED] Re: Troubles capturing video: "Value too large for defined data type"

    Hello mc4man,

cat appears to work as well as cp, gleefully filling my hard drive with mpegts data. Thanks, maybe something will inspire a solution (or at least identify the source of the problem)....
  17. [SOLVED] Re: Troubles capturing video: "Value too large for defined data type"

    Hi Thomas,

Before today, no one has even acknowledged my posts here and on the ffmpeg user list. (No, I'm not whining, I realize this is a very unusual problem.)

    Sadly, I'm still troubled by...
  18. [SOLVED] Re: Troubles capturing video: "Value too large for defined data type"

Am I posting in the wrong section, or ?? I'm really stumped on what to do at this point. Do I have too much info, or not enough, in my original post?

    Thanks,

  19. [SOLVED] Troubles capturing video: "Value too large for defined data type"

At this point I'm just trying to find out what the actual problem is. I can't even ask a proper question since I don't know what is to blame for my troubles...
