    [SOLVED] Re: Apt-key deprecated

    From its manual page:

What you get is not an error, it's a warning.

It also looks like you forgot a dash:

    wget -q http://www.webmin.com/jcameron-key.asc -O- | apt-key add -

  4. Re: Upgrade from 18.04 to 20.04 without affecting installed software

Focal has php7.4. If the version from the official repo doesn't work for you, see https://deb.sury.org

As to MySQL 5.7, see How to install MySQL 5.7 on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
  5. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS landscape-sysinfo Output?

The function defaults to width=80. The default value doesn't get changed when the function is called. So setting COLUMNS has no effect.
  6. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS landscape-sysinfo Output?

This is handled in the function format_sysinfo. If the two-column output doesn't fit in 80 characters it will be print as single column.

Re: running a command on Startup

Have you tried other commands like alsactl init?

Finding out why sound doesn't work and fixing it is probably the right way to do.

But barring this, dex is a nice tool to generate an autostart...

  9. Re: Brand spanking newbie to linux! Question about a USB network adapter.

Look, I see there three Pop!_OS probes with the working adapter: Pop!_OS 20.04, Pop!_OS 20.10, and again Pop!_OS 20.04. Cannot be sure about the first two, but the last one definitely uses...

    Re: Recover deleted files EXT4

Do you have a backup of deleted files?
  12. Re: Brand spanking newbie to linux! Question about a USB network adapter.

The best place to start your search is probably https://linux-hardware.org. Examine the probes where this piece of hardware worked, and see what drivers were used in them.

    Re: Recover deleted files EXT4

Is cloudimage-rootfs the partition where deleted files are? Is it the root partition of your system (the one that is mounted at /)?

I'm asking because if not, you could install and use something...

    [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu/FreeBSD

    1) You don't show what is in /etc/grub.d/40_custom
    2) I just put my customizations to /boot/grub/custom.cfg which is then read by /etc/grub.d/41_custom

    Re: loop with grep function

    Try

    sort -k1,1 Bureau/taxa | join <(sort -k1,1 Bureau/conc_5genes.fas) -
or, if both files are already sorted on the common field, just

    join Bureau/{taxa,conc_5genes.fas}

  22. Re: gtk error FB reader: cannot access `gtk': No such file or directory

I'm not quite sure what are you trying to do. To compile the latest version of fbreader (currently 0.99.4 beta) from source? But it uses Qt4 and doesn't support GTK anymore. To compile from source...

    Re: Redirect to X11 :0

You can put several sed commands into one sed call:

    sed 's/./& /g; s/,/comma/g; s/@/at/g; s/$/Return/' /dev/ttyUSB1

    Re: Redirect to X11 :0

I guess some combination of a command-line X clipboard manipulation tool like xclip or xsel with an input automation tool like xdotool or xmacroplay may do the trick.
