So I would like to install and use Ubuntu, well try to at least. I have tried and failed many times. I am on a Samsung Series 7 Chronos Laptop (NP780Z5E) with UEFI installed. My main problems came...
Ok what I am saying is:
C:/Windows/Boot/EFI has NO Ubuntu folder. Or at least I can NOT see it from within Windows. I have C:/Windows/Boot/EFI/ bootmgfw.efi and bootmgr.efi
BUT in the recovery...
So where should the ubuntu folder be in the efi partition? It is NOT in Windows>Boot>EFI in my main C:/ drive. I only saw it in the recovery partition.
What is with viewing a specific forum or topic, then going to log in, and it redirecting me to the "Ubuntu Forum Community" where all subforums are listed. Is there not a way to be redirected back to...
See I have read MANY things and TRIED many things but I always have problems. Most recently:
Installed Ubuntu in UEFI mode with secure boot off. Both OS's booted. Ran updates on Ubuntu and it...
So what should I do out of what I /think/ I should do?:
1. Use OS-Uninstaller to uninstall linux.
2. Delete the Ubuntu folder in my EFI folder on my SAMSUNG_REC partition.
3. Delete Ubuntu...
Wow. Thanks for all the answers! Could you recommend a lenovo/Asus laptop that meets the mid ranged requirement as well as DECENT specs like battery life and resolution etc.
I want one because I...
UPDATE:

I tried using the efibootmgr to remove the entries but it didn't work. BUT I did find the ubuntu folder in the SAMSUNG_REC partition which I can only see in ubuntu, its in EFI/Boot/Microsoft and its...
I apologize if these have been answered before. I am relatively knew with Ubuntu and System76 and have some specific questions that I'd like answered. Thanks!

That is my boot info summary from restoring EFI backups. Thanks!!! It worked. Now I have another question:
I currently have FIVE entries in my UEFI boot menu:
Windows Boot Manager (...)
Windows...
http://paste.ubuntu.com/6077482/
And then I will boot Windows automatically?
Here it is:
http://paste.ubuntu.com/6073538/
I go into my UEFI and select Windows Boot Manager to boot from, and there are 2 entries for this, and they both boot me into grub.
ALSO: I can NOT boot into ubuntu. I added nomodeset and it...
Ok here's something interesting:
I DON'T have the bkpbootmgfw.efi file in my EFI directory, BUT IN GRUB it says boot from that file, and it boots me into windows. Why can't I find the file though?
I AM IN THIS DIRECTORY:
C:\Windows\Boot\EFI
The ONLY files I see are (other than folders):
boot.stl
bootmgfw.efi
bootmgr.efi
memtest.efi
I have the bootmgfw.efi file in that directory from post 40. Where exactly do I need to copy it? And if I copy it over, will this boot windows directly?
Through grub.
CURRENTLY: My machine will ONLY boot Windows 8. I ran the updates and I think that broke ubuntu. I JUST WANT TO REMOVE UBUNTU. So what should I do?
So I should run boot repair, and select rename EFI files? And then restart the ocmputer? I think I hit the option to backup and rename AGAIN after I reinstalled ubuntu after deleting the partition....
Well I previously deleted the ubuntu partition, and had to REINSTALL ubuntu to be able to boot back into windows. Will the rename efi files work since I did this?
Actually Oldfred, could you please tell me how to COMPLETELY REMOVE ubuntu and everything associated with it?
I know that JUST deleting the Ubuntu partition WILL NOT do it because I cannot boot...
