  1. [kubuntu] Kubuntu host sleep causing Windows guest problems

I use Kubuntu 14.04 64-bit; kernel version 3.13.0-63-generic (though the problem existed prior to that kernel version); and VirtualBox 4.3.30.

I run Windows 7 in VirtualBox. If I don't allow my...

[ubuntu] Re: Another: Encrypted Swap not mounting

I am curious as to whether this happens only if you encrypt /home, or if it also happens if you choose for the whole disc to be encrypted. Anyone know?

[ubuntu] Re: Another: Encrypted Swap not mounting

No. Unfortunately not. There should be a warning about this during install. I would have handled encryption differently had I known of this problem. I am now looking at having to do a fresh install....
  4. [kubuntu] Re: Disk space lost after deletion of truecrypt container

No. It wasn't mounted. It has a ntfs filesystem. I never changed that.
  5. [kubuntu] Disk space lost after deletion of truecrypt container

I just deleted (shift-del) a truecrypt container on an external hd. After the deletion, I noticed that the space wasn't freed. Is there something that I can do to free that space again?

[ubuntu] Re: splitting mp4 in two

I have used several variations of codes like this:

    ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -vcodec copy -acodec copy -ss 00:00:00 -t 00:30:00 output1.mp4
ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -vcodec copy -acodec copy -ss 00:30:00...

[ubuntu] Re: problem with splitting mp4 in two

With the "split" command, I couldn't split the file at a certain time in the video, right? With ffmpeg splitting, the video will still play. It is only that the audio and video is out of sync in the...

    [ubuntu] splitting mp4 in two

I have tried to split some large .mp4 files in two. I have tried some ffmpeg commands and avidemux. The latter did horribly. The former gives me a great first half, but the video and audio of the...

[ubuntu] Another: Encrypted Swap not mounting

I am using Ubuntu 14.04. I am having an encrypted swap problem similar to others. However, I don't seem to have some of the same fstab entries as others.

    Here is my fstab:

    # /etc/fstab:...
  12. [kubuntu] Kubuntu display messed up after restart from Windows partition

I use Kubuntu 14.04 as my primary OS. I keep Windows on another partition basically for one piece of software—so, I'm rarely over there. Yesterday I had to go "over there." While I was on Windows, I...
  13. [ubuntu] 14.04 fresh encryped install with no SWAP

I just installed Ubuntu 14.04 on a new Dell laptop. I chose to encrypt everything. I was getting a message at startup that the swap was not present or not being detected (oddly, that message no...

    [kubuntu] Re: "Resetting" Audio?

That seems to have fixed it! I actually thought I had already tried that due to suggestions I saw elsewhere. Somehow things seem to work now. Thanks.

    [kubuntu] "Resetting" Audio?

I'm using Kubuntu 13.10. My sound was working fine before. Now . . . I was given a MS LifeChat LX-3000 headset. I plugged it in and got to work trying to get it to work right. I may get back to...

Re: Where is our OneNote alternative?

I had used RedNoteBook for journaling in the past. I don't think it is a really viable option for research, though it is great for normal journaling.
