I was able to make a back up of the windows installation. The problem is that when the installation has completed, there is a "no bootable media" message. I installed Ubuntu just like I have always...
Sorry for being a bit late, as I was at work. I did a back up on a usb drive. My luck, since I was not provided with a Windows 10 disk. I guess you have to be careful when installing another OS in a...
OMG. I recently bought a Packard Bell ENT G71BM for work, with the idea of installing 14.04, which I use at home. It was a complete disaster. This is my first encounter with UEFI. First it would not...
The battery is there to keep bios settings. If you were to remove the battery for some time, the bios would default to its factory setting. The time would revert back to its original setting, and...
Just installed 14.04 on my laptop, with the same touchpad scrolling not working. Tried the "two finger touch". Worked. Pretty good advice

Nothing. Absolutely nothing. I have been using Ubuntu since 2007, and I haven't seen any lag, even when my pc was downloading a new kernel. Vastly superior to the windows that I work with at the...
Sorry for the lateness. Boot-repair did the job just fine. The only problem is that downloading around 335mb on 256kb connection might take for ever. May be it should be installed in every release....
I recently had problems updating grub, after reinstalling (again) windows. Thanks to boot-repair, my beloved Ubuntu was again available. Thanks a lot. However, I would like to know if I install...
Did it work before in Ubuntu? Sometimes your connections are not automatic, and you have to insert your adresses manually. Check it out in windows, and revert back.

Have you deactivated the inbuilt soundcard in bios? I once had the same problem when installing a soundblaster audigy. Deactivating the inbuilt sound card solved the problem. Btw to the best of my...
Have you checked whether the sound is muted? It is something that has fooled me when i first used ubuntu. Otherwise you could check in bios that the inbuilt card is activated.

Sorry to be a bit late.
To find out if your graphic card is recognized by ubuntu, try application, application, terminal, then "lspci", without the quotes. If your card is recognized, it should...
Hello, as you said, may be you should try to install drivers for your card. Just go to system, administration, hardware drivers, and install nvidia drivers.
Install and post the issue.

Why not install an add-on to firefox to download the files to a specific location on your hard drive. You can then be sure of their location.

I may be wrong, but you do not need windows to have access to the bios. You may need to press a key during boot, may be esc or del. Anyway, why do you connect the mouse?
Btw i use 10.04.

Hello' I used to have a radeon 9550, before i replaced it with a fx 5200. I must say that the nvidia geforce drivers are much better suited to linux than the radeon.

Jean Noel :)
