    Ubuntu is not supported OS for Oracle database.
    But it is possible install Oracle database to Ubuntu.

    Problem is probably that dba group can not write listener log.
    You can start database and listener from terminal


    sudo /etc/init.d/oracle-xe start


    Or try add write permission to log...
