as said by others what kind of printer are you using? I just figure out my brother wireless printer there was linux driver for it at brothers website... google ur printer and see if there is any...

the reason why it doesnt allow u to modify the files sytem bcoz by defult u wont have the root acess to make changes in the system files so log in as root and do so
