    Hi

Has anyone got SPDIF (optical) output working on the Asus Xonar DS?

Alsamixer gives me two SPDIF channels, one called SPDIF and one called SPDIF loopback - that I have never seen before. If...

Re: HOWTO: Install and use the latest FFmpeg and x264

    I wrote something similiar here:

    http://code.google.com/p/x264-ffmpeg-up-to-date/

Looks like it does the same as yours, but allows for some configuration. It use to support all the various...
  4. Re: p0rnview - Software Centre NEEDS some form of governance

But that is my issue, we weren't. Here is the flow of the conversation that resulted in my billious post:

Wife: Does this computer have anything like Word, so I can write a hospital bag list...
  5. Re: p0rnview - Software Centre NEEDS some form of governance

I think they employ a whole bunch of people to curate the app store manually, Apple certainly review each app manually.
  6. Re: p0rnview - Software Centre NEEDS some form of governance

Ahah, I did do a search on launchpad for pornview, but nothing came up and as the title used can be fairly esoteric, I didn't find this bug.

Thanks, I have marked mine as a duplicate. Great to see...
  7. Re: p0rnview - Software Centre NEEDS some form of governance

    https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity-lens-applications/+bug/948453

though I think I have filed the bug against the wrong app.
  8. Re: p0rnview - Software Centre NEEDS some form of governance

This response has given me some perspective....if I am being likened to an evolutionary denialist then perhaps I have gone a tad far ;)

    Point taken.
  9. Re: p0rnview - Software Centre NEEDS some form of governance

I was unaware of this, I'll have a read and turn this feature off for the wife.
  10. Re: p0rnview - Software Centre NEEDS some form of governance

But my issue was this wasn't IN the software centre, this was in the Unity Apps menu, that shows a suggestion of apps that you can download from the Software Centre. I suppose my real gripe is about...
  11. Re: p0rnview - Software Centre NEEDS some form of governance

Yeah, I looked into the app more after writing my indignant post. The app itself is fairly innocuous, though from the description you can read between the lines (it says it allows for hands-free...
  12. p0rnview - Software Centre NEEDS some form of governance

It has taken me years to convince my wife to move over to Ubuntu and she has finally given in and has been using Ubuntu 11.10 on her Dell Mini for few months or so, mostly with no complaints....until...
  13. [lubuntu] Re: Link Aggregation guides up-to-date for 11.10?

So, to answer my own question, NO neither of those pages work. I have managed to get the following configuration to work:

    auto eth0
    iface eth0 inet manual
    bond-master bond0

    #adapter...

[ubuntu] Re: ( Solved) Re: Ubuntu 11.10: Shutdown stuck Ubuntu screen

    Nope, no dice sadly.

Pretty sure this is an NFS / fstab issue where the one of the network or file share demons isn't properly exiting..

[ubuntu] Re: ( Solved) Re: Ubuntu 11.10: Shutdown stuck Ubuntu screen

I'm afriad it doesn't fix it for me and I presume you mean:

    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="acpi=force"

It is depressing this is getting little response from the devs. the bug report is also getting no...

Re: HOWTO: Install and use the latest FFmpeg and x264

Just type ffmpeg at the command line and it will show you, this is what I get:

  18. Re: HOW TO: Conky weather info using Accuweather/WUnderground/NWS

    Hi

Just wanted to say thanks for adding the warning on the front page and thanks for the script, it works very well. I've re-created my .conkrc so all is OK now, and it's given me an excuse to...
  19. Re: HOW TO: Conky weather info using Accuweather/WUnderground/NWS

No probs, it was my own dumb fault, just don't want it to happen to anyone else!

    Peace out and all that!
  20. Re: HOW TO: Conky weather info using Accuweather/WUnderground/NWS

    Hi

I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but please don't put files in the root of a tar'ed file that could overwrite important user files....like .conkyrc.

As I'm using a server I ssh into as it...

[ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 11.10: Shutdown stuck Ubuntu screen

So, it happened again, not fixed, no surprise.

I am thinking it is an issue with our dear friend Network-Manager, which now appears, according to syslog, to load very early on and thus I suspect...
