So has anyone found what exactly in the user profile causes this?
I am trying to delete all folders .config/* or .* which are "related" to flash in any way as far as I can tell but haven't had...
I have been looking for something exactly like this. I will put it here if I find something otherwise I will write something up myself which leverages the ubuntu-system-service and network-manager.
Yes I believe the problem is definitely related to being behind a proxy server. I will update it here as soon as I find a solution.

But would you get any benefit tuning for your processor type ('-march=core2 -mtune=core2 -msse4 etc etc' ?
