Personally I don't have any experience with ppd files. Maybe you should drop a pm to "qole", he created the first ppd file (first page of this thread)

That's why I had to uninstall Ubuntu. I copy files frequently to flash drives. It is unacceptable for me to wait 20 minutes for one 700 MB file, instead of 1 minute.

Three months since Karmic released, and this major bug still exists. Come on!
My printer has USB 1.1 port, so no notable slowdown. When my printer won't print is always because the cable.
Another alpha version of 64 bit flash player is available, released on 8th of December. Check this link for installation instructions.

No improvement in 2.6.31-16 kernel. Transfer starts at 11 MB/s, and drops to 600 kB/s. Test file was 700 MB.

No, the playing starts normally, and some of the mp3s (I guess the fragmented ones) have delays during the playing.

I am running Karmic Koala, and I have an encrypted home (ext4).
The fregmentation of the home partition is 14%. I have huge number of mp3 files, when I delete them, fregmentation goes...
No difference for me :(
Confirmed, this is a partition-type problem. With ext3 I got 28 MB/s speed, with fat32 only 0.5-1 MB/s.
Edit: this is for external hdd, flash drives still slow like hell.
I saw several bug reports regarding to this problem. No soultion yet, but it is a major kernel bug.
Same here. Speed decrease is not so radical as before, but still exists.
I answer my own question: Karmic does not encrypt swap or tmp, just home.
