@tellapu - I have not changed the default install of Rhythmbox 2.96 in Ubuntu 12.04 or uninstalled it, other than adding the plugin directory/files as noted above.
I am using RhythmBox 2.96 and the issue I noted above might have been with MiniDLNA, because when I tried PS3MediaServer I did not have the same trouble browsing.
I have the grilo plugin working in Ubuntu 12.04 (the plugin seems to have some issues/bugs, but I have not tried newer versions...) and here is what I did:
sudo apt-get build-dep rhythmbox
Get...
It occurred to me that if I simply reverse this policy:
acpid - don't handle the power button if gnome-settings-daemon is running
gnome-settings-daemon - handle the power button

Continuing my efforts to "fix" this, this thread is worth noting as to how things got to where they are now: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=652183

Final test results of gnome-settings-daemon (package ver 3.4.2-0ubuntu0.3) behavior in Ubuntu 12.04:

I think I found it:
Using dconf-editor:
Set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power.button-power = nothing
What I find odd is that it was set to "suspend", but what actually happens is not...
In addition to the things disabled as noted in Post #1 above, I also discovered this in gconf-editor:
/apps/gnome-power-manager/buttons/power = suspend
and I changed that to
...
In Ubuntu 12.04 I changed /etc/acpi/events/powerbtn, commenting out the "action" line as follows:
#action=/etc/acpi/powerbtn.sh
I also used dconf-editor to set...

You may want to try this: Run CompizConfig Settings Manager, under General --> General Options (a button) --> Desktop Size tab, set Horizontal and Vertical Virtual Size(s) to 1. Note that this is...
Workaround: Run the Universal Access program, then under the Seeing tab, turn the Screen Reader to "ON", then turn it immediately "OFF", then quit. Synaptic should/might run okay now.
I was able to get a Prolific PL2305 usb-to-parallel interface connected to an HP Laserjet 5L to be recognised by adding "usblp" (without the quotes) to the file /etc/modules and then using...
I am also seeing very slow file load times, and occasional sluggish GUI response, with LibreOffice 3.4.3 and Ubuntu 11.10 in Unity.
If Cardapio is giving you the "ImportError: No module named glade" error message in Ubuntu 11.10, install the python-glade2 package. This is a broken dependency in the Cardapio ppa package that...
Install the lzma package. This "bug" is being tracked/fixed here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-center/+bug/868188
I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 11.10 and I also have the Prolific Technology, Inc. PL2305 Parallel Port, which is listed when doing lsusb, but there is no /dev/usb/lp0 or /dev/usblp0. This was...
I am also getting this error when running synaptic:

what(): vector::_M_range_check

Install (using Synaptic or however you prefer) package gcc-4.5
After playing some music I discovered that there are 6 demo songs on the player that were put there by Sansa. The player shows that there is a folder called MTP somewhere, but using MSC and Nautilus...
Thanks for this post. Just bought a Sansa Clip+ 2GB and the USB mode in the player was set to Auto out of the box, and Ubuntu Maverick was not recognizing/mounting it. Set this to MTP in the player...
Is there a way/program that has a transparent canvas that can be placed over the top of the desktop that can be drawn on? I don't mean a checker-boarded canvas. I want to be able to see whatever...
As a temporary workaround I made a desktop launcher with the command "gksudo halt".
