I'm unable to change the brightness level of my laptop. Following an answer to this, I added video.only_lcd=0 to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT. It didn't work.
That did it! Amazing, thanks. I did not do the SecureBoot part - I couldn't find the option (and my keypad which I usually keep disabled goes crazy in BIOS anyway and doesn't let me navigate). Thanks...

Hi, I made a mistake when I said I didn't have a /etc/resolv.conf file - I did have one. But I did what you said. No change, though.
