    [kubuntu] Re: fstab doesn't automount

    It's not encrypted as far as I know.

    I put the username and password directly into the fstab file and it still won't automount at boot time. That eliminates the external credentials file as the...

    [kubuntu] Re: fstab doesn't automount

    Yes. Since it mounts just fine when I do a "sudo mount -a", it shows me that the contents of fstab are right...it's just some kind of odd permissions issues.

    How is linux support for the Iris integrated graphics? Are there 3D driveres fort them etc?

    Nothing special really. I don't game on this machine, but having moderate gaming capabilities would be nice.

    [kubuntu] Hardware suggestions?

    I'm currently running on 12.04 LTS on some old, but very stable hardware.

    I'm looking to upgrade my hardware and run either 14.04 LTS or maybe 15.04, but I'm not sure how stable the latter is.

  13. [kubuntu] Re: Driver not loading in kernel? Kubuntu 13.10

    Ok, so I went into /etc/modules and I added a new line:

    nvidia_304

    ^that's the name of my driver module. Now it auto loads into the GUI and all seems well. Hooray.
  14. [kubuntu] Driver not loading in kernel? Kubuntu 13.10

    After much tinkering, I've finally found a driver that works properly with my GeForce 7300LE - the Nvidia_304 driver.

    However, when I boot the machine, it will load up in just a terminal screen.

  15. [ubuntu] Re: Installed 13.10 fails login using nVidia GeForce 7300 LE

    Ok, so now I'm running the 304 driver, but it will load up in just a terminal screen.

    However, it will load the desktop in full res if I do the following...

    $ sudo modprobe nvidia_304
    $ startx

    Here's how you can install the 331 driver:

  17. [ubuntu] Re: Installed 13.10 fails login using nVidia GeForce 7300 LE

    I'm having the same problem. I can get it to boot with a different driver (nvidia 331 driver), but the resolution is very low and I can't figure out how to change it.

    Ok, so do an apt-get remove of the driver and then enable the free driver.

    Removed the nvidia-173 driver using aptitude on the command line (which I guess means that I'm running an open source driver now?).

    Logged back into the system. Everything seems to work.

    [kubuntu] Re: 11.10 - system not responsive

    So you think if I login via the command line, remove the driver, and install the OS one, it will work?

    Anyone happen to know the name of current version of the OS nvidia driver?
