    Ok, I knew about the lpadmin commands. Just wan't sure ihow they effected what the user will see in the normal desktop ui.

    I have no problem not dealing with epson drivers... In fact if it will work without them I'm all the more happy.

    That said, lsusb doesn't show the epson device after some period of time after it...

    Connecting it wifi would be nice...but, they don't have wifi. It is a single desktop connected to a cable modem. With the printer plugged into USB on the desktop.

    Umm...what does redirecting the smartctl on the command line have to do with information that flashes during shutdown/boot?

    I have a laptop with 19.10.

    When I reboot I see the message mount failed '/' read only.

    I don't see it when booting from power off state, only during reboot.

    It doesn't seem to cause any...

    That didn't change anything.

    Interestingly, the power button does power off if I hold it for a few seconds with either OS.

    Hmm...I'm happy to try that (and I'm perfectly comfortable with regedit, don't like the registry concept, but have used regedit plenty...unfortunately. :( )

    That made no difference.

    Another thing I noticed is the Windows 10 partition now does the same thing.

    - 5 upgraded machines were successful
    - 4 out of 5 the scroll wheel works
