Poll: Re: Pinoy Ubuntu Users Thread

I am happy to report that I've received my Ubuntu CDs after just a month of waiting. Yay!

Kumuha na kayo. Dinala ng post office sa bahay ko, libre. May stickers pa. :) Gusto ko rin ng Ubuntu CDs!

Re: HOWTO: Install AVG free anti-virus

Hey, AI, thanks for a great HowTo! I've been a fan of AVG for so long and to have it on my Linux box just makes me feel all fuzzy inside. :)

Anyway, I ran into an error when I tried to update.

    Re: I now have a dual-boot iPod :-)

Out of frustration, I decided to go with an alternative: Rockbox. The ipod took it pretty well. Now I'm playing OGG with no problems. :)

    Re: I now have a dual-boot iPod :-)

I have a more damning problem. I was able to extract the installer and the little tux/ipod icon, but when I run the installer, I get:

Anyone have an idea as to what happened? I've installed...
  8. Re: Oubuntu! (Clean Install Ubuntu With Openbox!)

DISCLAIMER: I have limited experience with these things. :)

The easiest way I found to access network items was to use nautilus. Yes, it probably has GNOME dependencies, but if you're willing...

Re: How to use Openbox in GNOME and by itself.

Thanks for the tutorial, Stormy Eyes! I'm on OpenBox and I wonder what I've been doing with all that resources I've freed up.

    I've got question, though.

Is there a repository of "toys" to put...

    Re: XFCE Rocks!

    Xubuntu rocks! :)

Well, almost. My gripes with XFCE are:
    1) Sometimes launching thunar from the menu generates two instances of it.
    2) Sometimes, I have to click twice (not double-click) on the...
  12. Re: Ubuntu is very heavy on my (not too old) laptop . :(

Thanks for these tips! I realized that I put some premium on the GUI, so I decided to stick with Xfce.

My problem is: how do I remove these things? Should I simply type:
    $sudo aptitude remove...
  13. Re: Use thumbnails for your ToDo list (for low-end boxes)

Yeah, I discovered that the default themes work best with this, except for the Rodent theme.

    Glad everyone likes it. :)
  14. Re: Use thumbnails for your ToDo list (for low-end boxes)

Apparently that was the GNOME desktop.

I found out because I just did a fresh Xubuntu install (without all the mess I did before), and that function for the desktop is no longer around. If I don't...
  15. Use thumbnails for your ToDo list (for low-end boxes)

    Greetings, all.

First, a bit of background on me. I run a low-end PC (well, I think it's low-end -- specs at bottom) and I'm always on the lookout for speed optimizations for Xubuntu. At the same...

I tried using your method, and at first it didn't work.

For some reason, during recovery mode, I ran tune2fs as root and now it works! I did get some error messages when I sudo'd it as the...

Poll: Re: Pinoy Ubuntu Users Thread

I've been using Ubuntu for a few hours already, and with Automatix, there's no need to go back to Windows. Interesting. All it took for me to actually cross over was a DSL connection. :)

Three cheers for the Automatix team! :)
