    Wow ! That sheds some light on the problem !

    I woke up 'Ubuntu Software Centre' and found just using 'pepperflash' and rebooting, Firefox behaved it self !

    A brilliant 'nugget of gold' !!!!...

    I downloaded this:-

    flashplugin-installer_11.2.202.616ubuntu1_amd64.deb

    and clicked on it, and Ubuntu Software Centre came up then locked up with :-

    flasgplugin-nonfree-extrasound:i386...

    Yes 14.04 is fine on all front apart from Adobe flash. But the fix is impossible with with the www sites that using only the very latest version.

    Its only a few days to go for 16.04 so I'll try...

    I use 14.04 also 15.04 and 15.10

    But their capability seems to be decaying....

    Some web sites demand the latest Adobe Flash player to be available.... or suitable compatible substitute..

    Its just Ubuntu 14.04 I'm concerned with regarding 'working' out of the box dongles.

    I found it strange that a lot worked just fine 2 years ago and now most don't.

    I used to be able to buy wifi dongles, little ones, which just worked out of the box

    but all the recent ones no longer do that.

    Solved

    I swapped the cradle positions and the 2nd drive booted.

    I replaced the cradles positions and it all works fine.

    I don't understand it but hey ! it works.

    Well that resulted with both drives in their cradles, neither booted.

    I'll try that on the second drive on its own with just the first line.

    I run Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit fully updated.

    Its got two drives

    1st on the first sata port SSD drive

    2nd 1TB Western Digitial 1TB for data

    both have a booting version of Ubuntu on them.

    Whoops that's Firefox 37.0.2

    I always display my Bookmarks toolbar, and suddenly its no longer present. Major pain in the tail !

    Any thoughts as how to get it back, Google comes up with 'Menu'...

    In a way, sadly, I solved the problem by increasing ram on the Laptop by 256MB and installing Ubuntu 14.04 32bit LTS, and all the problems I encountered get my project to work smoothly, went away.
