Thanks for sharing your gtkrc-2.0, I'm actually using it here at work as well as at home and it's much easier on my eyes.
I've configured Firefox to use the same colors but active/visted links are...
Hahaha, I'm just glad to help.
AFAIK NVIDIA doesn't have a patch for the legacy or 1.0.8XXX drivers as 1.0.9625+ patches this. When you say "fixed package" do you mean the Beta 1.0.9626? Either way, the new 1.0.9XXX drivers...
Legacy card users are only affected if RenderAccel is explicitly enabled.
Basically, this bug can be mitigated by turning off RenderAccel.
1.0.9XXX - The bug is corrected.
1.0.8XXX -...
Yes, you can run 1.0.9626. I compiled mine from the nVidia package.
No problem, I just wanted to ensure everyone fully understood the situation, there seems to be a fair amount of FUD around this issue. :)
This is simply not true, I am running a Go FX5700 with 1.0.9626. As mentioned before disabling RenderAccel will mitigate this vulnerability or you can upgrade to the 1.0.9XXX series driver.
...
You need to use WineX-CVS, TransGaming's Cedega, or another DirectX capable WINE.
Yes it affects the drivers in the Repo. It's only patched in the 1.0.9XXX series. You can mitigate the vulnerability by setting RenderAccel to false.

Thanks for the fix but I'm not sure that this isn't just a band-aid. Prior to the updates on Sept 19 I didn't have out of sync issues nor was flash an issue. I installed the updates and flash no...
The issue has not been if/why people make mistakes but rather why the proper mechanisms were not in place to prevent such mistakes from negatively impacting and disabling a multitude of Ubuntu users....
MS06-042 is pretty darned close:
1) Random crashes affecting both XP Sp1 and XP Sp2, http://news.zdnet.com/2100-1009_22-6106039.html
2) Updated patch promised 8/22/2006 but then delayed, no...
Mistakes happen. I make mistakes, however, the problem is that an entire GUI for a distribution can be brought to it's knees by the mistake of a single person. There should be procedures and...
Ensure you are running the latest Point Release (AFAIK v1.2.1) which recently added SMP support:

I've seen System Restore destroy more machines than fix. Heck, if you really want a "system restore" just add an event to /etc/apt/apt.conf.d which would kick off a backup (full/diff).
I...
Fleabay... nothing more than a mass of compromised accounts scamming or people bathing in deceit...
Sorry you got burned, it isn't a Ubuntu thing. I'm an avid Q4/Q3/UT2004 player.
OS doesn't matter. It means someone is using your CD-Key that doesn't map to the same IPAddr as you. Did you run Q4 in Win32, ungracefully disconnect, and boot to Linux?
You may be a victim of a...
Just use tar with bzip2 or gzip to take backups at regular intervals. I've written a bash script to do this for me and store the archives on an external firewire drive.
Still works here, current version of UT2004, no problems. Hoary 5.04, perhaps it's a Dapper issue if you're running it.
That was awesome. The chair that flips back and hits you in the back was outstanding. I literally laughed out loud.
No issues here, and I'm emu10k1. Of course, I'm still Hoary, so not sure if that matters. What's lsmod give you?
