  1. [SOLVED] Re: Problem at the installation of Ubuntu 20.04 in my new laptop ASUS TUF GAMING FX5

It is of interest to us which driver you got that worked. The one in the standard repositories is 460.56 as of a few days ago. Not sure what version the graphics-drivers PPA is offering.
  2. [SOLVED] Re: Problem at the installation of Ubuntu 20.04 in my new laptop ASUS TUF GAMING FX5

Also check the vendor's site for any firmware updates for your machine. That may eliminate some problems.

Re: no audio via HDMI connection

Even the small 1GB ram/8GB storage Intel Compute Sticks came with working HDMI audio (original kernel 3.13, 3.16). Upgrading to the 4.4 kernel killed the audio because the Intel (Canonical...
  5. Re: UEFI install: where to install boot loader

I hope you did add yourself to the "Does this affect me?" list in the upper left corner of the bug window. Old as the bug is, it is a superset of an even older USB specific bug, which was then...

  7. [ubuntu] Re: Python 2 issues after upgrade to 20.04 on production server

You could roll back to 18.04, which has three more years of support, and convert to python3 at your leisure.
  8. [SOLVED] Re: After downgrade gcc Nvidia driver doesen't work, fallback to default gcc doesn't w

The executable is /usr/bin/x86_64-linux-gnu-gcc-9, but there should be a a chain of symlinks /usr/bin/gcc-9 -> x86_64-linux-gnu-gcc-9, and finally /usr/bin/gcc -> gcc-9. The gcc should always remain...
  9. [SOLVED] Re: After downgrade gcc Nvidia driver doesen't work, fallback to default gcc doesn't w

Take a look at the /usr/bin/gcc, /usr/bin/g++, /usr/bin/gcc-9, /usr/bin/g++-9 links and fix those too. (Along with all the nm, ar, and ranlib links).
  10. [all variants] Re: How do I update vmlinuz and initrd.img of a LiveUSB

Consider making a full install, the live media, even with persistence, does have limitations like you have encountered.

Kernel 5.12 rc1 was recalled because of potential swap-file mismanagement overwriting the root. ;^(
  12. Re: How do I upgrade Ubuntu 18.04 up to 18.04.4 LTS?

The point releases after the initial 18.04.1 just differ by the kernel they offer. You can keep the original kernel for the support life of the release if you want by installing the 18.04.1 , or...

    [ubuntu] Re: Installer crashed

Did you hashcheck the downloaded ISO? Media check used to be a choice on the live installer, to verify it. Memory check also. Then try running the live media in "try" mode, and partition the disk.
  20. Re: New PC build but Linux will not boot correctly

The gigabyte site https://www.gigabyte.com/us/Motherboard/B450-AORUS-PRO-rev-10/support#support-dl-bios only offers the BIOS F60e as the latest (12/09/2020), not the F61 you mentioned. Try the...

  22. Re: New PC build but Linux will not boot correctly

  24. Re: New PC build but Linux will not boot correctly

Definitetly check for firmware updates, for both the motherboard and SSD. Try the latest kernel, 20.10, or even the daily build of 2104.
  25. Re: Fresh install, reboot then find no bootable media

Maybe check for any firmware updates offered for the SSD? And for your motherboard too.
