    I've found the problem! :)
    The IPv6 DNS (which is empty) was conflicting somehow with the IPv4 config. I disabled IPv6 for the connection and voilá! :)

    Now I just need to get some bigger fonts...

    I do have 11.04, try a manual install of the driver. Download the package directly from nvidia and install as described.
    I did it all in a runlevel without X, and it all went fine.
