  2. Re: Samsung Galaxy SIII No Multimedia Support for Linux

I just got an HTC One X+ to replace my HTC Desire and have come up against this annoying removal of USB mass storage.

While it's annoying that MTP isn't well supported in Ubuntu at the moment, the...
  3. Re: Roland USB audio interface impossible to make it work

Ascurion you legend! I'd given up on ever getting this thing working under Ubuntu and that simple little trick made it spring to life. What a weird switch, I never even noticed it was there! Thanks...

I tried to run Windows XP in VirtualBox not long ago for gaming and didn't have much success. The copy protection on several games failed to validate that the disc was in the drive and the ones that...
  5. Re: Gates donates $750 million to fight AIDS, TB and malaria

Perhaps bouncingwilf is talking about how it is very difficult to buy a computer (especially a laptop) without paying for a Microsoft product, even if unwanted. Just a thought.

  7. Re: Gates donates $750 million to fight AIDS, TB and malaria

Although I agree that this is a very generous donation, I think it should almost be expected of people with such insane amounts of money. I mean, it's hardly like he's going to miss out on any...

  9. Re: What kind of Cell Phone do you own? What is your dream Phone?

I have an HTC Desire running Android 2.2.2 with HTC Sense. I've had it for nearly two years and I'm very happy with it, easily the best phone I've had. I don't really have any desire (ha!) to replace...

I don't know, just because something is open source doesn't mean it has to be devoid of standards. There's the Gnome interface guidelines,, web standards, POSIX... Admittedly I'm not...
  12. Re: New Ubuntu Is Out Lets Hear About What You've To Say

When 11.04 came out I gave Unity a try for about a month, but in the end decided it wasn't for me and switched to Xubuntu 11.04, which I really like. Having tried out Unity in 11.10 I can see that it...
  13. Re: Ubuntu sort arrows - when will they fix this??

Yeah when you put it that way it makes sense too. I guess it's just easier if everyone sticks to the same thing, but which way is going to win? ... FIGHT!

  15. Re: Ubuntu sort arrows - when will they fix this??

This is what I've always thought, that the down arrow for ascending makes more sense because that's the order it "points" in the column.

Yes I use it at work to do web development in ASP.NET and C#. I use it on Windows XP. I find it a very capable and full-featured, if sometimes quirky, IDE.
  18. Re: Help expand my knowledge about lossless, WAV and Mp3

No the quality won't come back. Once converted to a lossy format, the quality is lost for good. You'd need to rip from the original source to get it back into a lossless format.
