    I've had the same problem on a netbook and solved it by pressing ALT-F7 then using the arrow keys to move the window around the screen until the confirmation buttons show.

    Sorry, lash9420 - that was the wrong fix. (It's the one to 'solve' all the Network Manager error messages that appear on shutdown.)

    The one you want is also a System/Administration/Login Window...

    You might want to try this:

    1. Go to System - Administration - Login Window.

    2. Under 'General', press "Edit commands ...'

    3. Select 'Halt command' - in 'Path' box, cut the text in quotes...

    Go to System - Administration - Login Window, then choose Local and make sure that "Show Actions Menu" is ticked. If it wasn't, that was the problem. If it was, then it must be something else.
