Re: Kernel 5.8 RC (Release Canidate) series

Yes, and as noted in my 1st and 12th posts. Just a couple of days ago, I went on IRC and asked about it.

The thing that always surprises me when the mainline PPA breaks in some way is nobody ever...

Re: Kernel 5.8 RC (Release Canidate) series

I see that -rc3 still has busted files names. I have gone on the kernel channel on IRC and asked if it can be fixed.
  3. [SOLVED] Re: What is the each command's different merit between su and sudo?

Likewise. Thanks for taking the time to do the research and writing it up for all of us.
  4. [SOLVED] Re: What is the each command's different merit between su and sudo?

My response was in reply to this:

And I stand by the statement, and your own permissions example shows executable by anyone.
And just try it, no sudo or root required. Example, with no "sudo"...

Kernel 5.8 RC (Release Canidate) series

Kernel 5.8-rc1 is available from kernel.org and the Ubuntu Mainline PPA, although the file names are currently incorrect missing the -rc1.

I have only had it running for a few minutes:

  11. Some ubuntu IRC channels no longer publish logs

I do not normally linger on any of the various Ubuntu channels on IRC.
Sometimes, it has been very useful to be able to go back in the IRC logs to find something, or see if a new issue has already...

Yes, I do it a few times per week for several years now. I steal the Ubuntu kernel configuration and build the mainline upstream kernel. method.

You could try the Ubuntu server e-mail list. They are quite responsive.
