If you have an extra harddisk lying around maybe install ubuntu onto that and see if the netbook will boot.

If this is helps at all, I installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS flawlessly with the Windows Installer.

I printed a test page for Ubuntu a few days ago... so I am really unsure of what is going on. Everytime I try to print something.. it just keeps on attempting to print and either reports as printed...
