I just installed the 4.4.0 kernel by clicking "Install". My PC booted up fine after the restart, and so far everything seems to be working. Clicking "Install" did not upgrade my Ubuntu installation...

For some reason it now works. I only changed --another to -a

sudo gedit /etc/rc.local
and add:
ifconfig eth0 down
macchanger -a eth0
It seems like nobody knows how to make it work, so I wrote the author of the instructions. I will post here if I get a reply.
