LibreOffice + Google Docs is a great combo for me.

    Re: Ubuntu 12.10 a joke?

The PC desktop is no longer a growth arena anyway.

Cost of system is not an important factor. Look at Android.

Not experiencing wireless problems at all on 3 notebooks.

    Very consistant...

Re: Should I upgrade to 12.10 Quantal Quetzal?

Having Ubuntu/Debian underneath can be enough.

Linux Mint 14 is a solid option.

Well designed Gnome 3 touches and quite stable on 3 machines.

An open mind about desktop environments can...

    What a coincidence.
    On it now.

    TP-Link TL-WN322G v3 / TL-WN422G v2 802.11g [Atheros AR9271]

Works OFTB on 12.10 Ubuntu/Mint 14 (or even Fedora 18).

Re: No thanks. I got Linux.

Ugly (screen estate) and not vital- but a commercial success.
    Still undesirable to many pros.
  12. Re: Upgrade to 12.10 or stick to the stable 12.04 LTS?

12.10 is providing better performance on my netbook(s).
The vga drivers are improved, better with HD.
Unity in 12.04 has useful GDocs integration, and other nice touches.
    Switched everything.

We're moving out of the dark ages of computing.
  15. Re: Google Plus Music = Greatest thing ever (to me)

Google Play is essentially free also. I've got thousands of songs uploaded at no cost. YouTube is key also.
  16. Re: Google Plus Music = Greatest thing ever (to me)

    Isn't it called Google Play?
    Awesome cloud service.
Now my PC's and tablets (and future phones) have unified music.

  19. Re: The future of Computing and Ubuntu in the Clouds.

Mine allows 8 hours per day unlimited. Very low-cost - I'm not in the states. Really useful.

Not to mention the thousands of songs I've got in Google music, playable on any good smartphone, tablet...
  20. Re: The future of Computing and Ubuntu in the Clouds.

Wow we've got it officially covered- though it wasn't my meaning.

GDocs even reduces the need for a LAN.

My docs can be viewed/worked a thousand places including my TV and the world outside.

  21. Re: The future of Computing and Ubuntu in the Clouds.

Google documents is very convenient for me, even used locally.
Takes the document management hassles away.
I use it on VPN exclusively.

    I'd like a Chromebook too.
But I'm pretty happy with the...
  22. Poll: Re: How many of you have gone completely to a laptop?

I like a variety of screen sizes up to 24".

It's actually a pretty good idea to go strictly laptop/netbook/tablet though.

They are more dependable, save energy, space saving and portable.

Re: The thrill is gone (Mac)

Operating system over applications- then Linux.

Linux apps look fine and meet many needs.

I see alot of Windows stuff that looks pretty ugly.
